Digital bridge connecting the hearts of the people.

In addition to firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security, today's soldiers in green uniforms are also quietly bringing digital transformation to the people through practical and relatable actions.

Dak Lak has a national land border nearly 72 km long bordering Mondulkiri province of the Kingdom of Cambodia; it also manages over 93 km of maritime border and 189 km of coastline. The vast terrain and scattered population make receiving information from the grassroots not always easy.

In the fight against crime in border areas, the people are always the crucial "eyes and ears." However, reality shows that many people, even when aware of incidents, are still hesitant to provide information for fear of retaliation or worry about their identities being revealed.

Officers from the Yok Don Border Guard Post instruct local residents on how to use anonymous email accounts.

Based on this reality, the Dak Lak Border Guard Command has implemented a model of "Email Box for Receiving Crime Reports and Denunciations" via QR code scanning. These QR codes are posted in places frequently visited by the public, such as commune People's Committee offices, community cultural centers, markets, schools, health stations, and border control checkpoints. With just a smartphone, people can quickly send reports without having to go directly to the authorities or disclose their identity.

Mr. Y Én Êban from Jang Lành hamlet, Buôn Đôn commune, shared: “Previously, if people knew about anything related to security and order, many were hesitant to report it for fear of trouble or having their names revealed. Now with QR codes, people find it much more convenient; they can report information quickly while still feeling secure.”

Initial results show that this approach is proving effective. In May 2026 alone, the Dak Lak Border Guard received 25 reports and denunciations of crimes; subsequently, they verified 16 of these reports, contributing to the fight against and handling of cases related to security, order, and crime in the border area.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Kieu, Political Officer of the Se Re Pok Border Guard Station, the most important thing is not only creating a tool for receiving information but also helping people understand and trust in using it. The unit will continue to promote awareness so that people understand how to use it, feel confident in providing information, and work together with the border guard force to effectively implement the model.

The Hoa Hiep Nam Border Guard Station is also managing 28 anonymous crime reporting email boxes deployed at the Hoa Hiep Ward People's Committee, Hoa Tam and Da Nong border control stations, Phu Lac fishing port, 14 neighborhood cultural centers, and 9 schools. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quoc Viet, Deputy Political Officer of the Hoa Hiep Nam Border Guard Station, said that along with the deployment of the "digital email boxes," the unit coordinated with neighborhood leaders and heads of neighborhood front committees to organize propaganda at Phu Lac fishing port, residential areas, and especially to guide people to scan QR codes and send reports via phone. The deployment of email boxes has initially helped to enhance the responsibility of the people in participating in reporting crimes and maintaining security and order in the area.

Alongside the task of protecting border security, the Dak Lak Border Guard also strives to bring digital skills to remote villages.

In Ea Bung commune, the Dak Rue Border Gate Border Guard Station persistently guides people on the safe use of smartphones and the Internet; installing and utilizing online public services, the VNeID application, and other digital platforms to serve their lives. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thong, Deputy Political Officer of the Dak Rue Border Gate Border Guard Station, said: “Some operations seem very simple, but for some people, especially the elderly, it's a whole new journey. Therefore, the unit's officers always determine that they must be persistent, provide hands-on guidance, and accompany the people in the long term.”

In the heart of border regions or on the front lines, digital transformation, implemented by border guards, is no longer a distant concept. From QR codes and dedicated training sessions to patient, hands-on guidance, the digital bridge is gradually being extended to every citizen…
