Mr. Ngo Duc Hanh, Deputy of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Tho Xuan district, and the Head of Huu Le parish (far left) actively propagates and mobilizes parishioners to comply with the Party's policies and guidelines and live a "good life and good religion".
Ngoc Dinh village has 1,700 people, is a Catholic village. In his role as Party cell secretary and village chief, Mr. Chinh always seriously implements the action programs of the commune party committee; develops plans to carry out assigned tasks specifically, clearly, and closely to the actual situation of the village. All common tasks are discussed democratically by him, resolved with reason and emotion according to the motto "words go hand in hand with actions", "exemplary cadres and party members take the lead". He himself is always close to the people to grasp their thoughts and feelings, thereby having specific methods of mobilizing people to effectively participate in the movements of the village and commune.
To lead the people to develop the economy and increase income, Mr. Chinh and cadres and party members actively propagate and mobilize people to boldly change their thinking and working methods, bring high-yield crops into production and raise aquatic products and livestock in an industrial direction. Service industries and occupations are increasingly developing, currently the whole village has over 150 households with an income of 150 - 200 million VND/year. The economy is stable, people actively participate in building a model new rural village. In the period of 2020-2025, Mr. Chinh mobilized people in the village to contribute hundreds of millions of VND, donate more than 900m2 of land, 250m of fence and auxiliary works, hundreds of laborers to expand and carpet more than 1.8km of roads; coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and organizations to support the construction of 2 great solidarity houses for families in difficult circumstances, install lighting systems...
He also encouraged parishioners to actively respond and effectively promote the models: "3 no" residential areas, residential areas without crime and social evils, self-managed roads, creating an exciting atmosphere and solidarity in the residential areas. In addition, he and the village Party cell coordinated with organizations to implement social security programs such as: Action month for the poor, supporting gifts for poor and disadvantaged households on the occasion of Christmas and Lunar New Year from 145-150 gifts/year; calling on benefactors to support 51 bicycles for students in Catholic areas...
With the efforts of Party cell secretary and village chief Dang Van Chinh, the lives of people in Ngoc Dinh village have been increasingly improved, with only 2.6% of households in the village remaining poor. Ngoc Dinh is one of the villages with economic development, cultural - artistic, physical education - sports movements always at the top of the commune. Party cell secretary and village chief Dang Van Chinh has been awarded many certificates of merit by the District Party Committee and District People's Committee.
As Deputy Head of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Tho Xuan District and Head of Huu Le Parish, Mr. Ngo Duc Hanh has actively changed the awareness of parishioners in environmental protection (EP) work by integrating the EP message into church ceremonies, parish meetings, and residential area meetings. Every month or on major Catholic festivals, he coordinates with village chiefs to mobilize parishioners to participate in cleaning village roads, collecting garbage, planting trees, and cleaning the environment. He also mobilized parishioners to donate hundreds of square meters of land, contribute hundreds of millions of VND, and hundreds of workers to widen roads; build waste treatment systems; Establishing an environmental self-management team... From the above practical activities, the residential area of Huu Le Parish has become a "bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe residential area" with a healthy living environment. Parishioners consider environmental protection a part of their daily lives, closely linked to faith and morality.
Along with environmental protection work, he also actively participates in social security activities. Every year, Mr. Hanh and Huu Le Parish coordinate with the village front committee to mobilize resources from parishioners, philanthropists and social organizations to build and repair houses for households in difficult circumstances; give hundreds of gifts to poor households and the elderly; support scholarships, books and learning tools for poor students who overcome difficulties; support people affected by storms, floods, epidemics... In addition to the above activities, he and the priests also give seeds of crops and livestock to poor households, helping them have the means of production to escape poverty sustainably. Mr. Hanh's family alone has created seasonal jobs for 4-5 local workers with a stable income of 8-10 million VND/person/month. From the above practical activities, poor and disadvantaged households in the parish have gradually improved their living conditions, and the movement of "mutual love" and solidarity in the parishioner community has spread more and more strongly.
Mr. Chinh and Mr. Hanh are just two of 118 outstanding individuals honored at the Patriotic Emulation Conference honoring good people and good deeds among Catholics in the period of 2020-2025. Each person represents a different job position, but they all have in common the enthusiasm to serve, accompany the people, enthusiastically compete in labor production, maintain peace in the parish, and unite together to build the homeland to develop more and more.
