In the entire Nha Trang Bay, only Hon Chong remains an area with a significant amount of coral, especially two important hard coral species: Acropora (branch coral) and Montipora (disc coral), which play a crucial role in creating coral reefs for the bay.

Let's admire the breathtaking beauty of nature bestowed upon humanity through the photo series "Sea Flowers" by author Duong Le Phuc. This series was submitted to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest , organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

Hon Chong, a place in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province) that still preserves a healthy coral reef. With a rich diversity of over 350 coral species, the Nha Trang coral reef was once considered by scientists to be one of the most important in Vietnam and the region.

Reef-building corals play a crucial role in shaping and creating the "foundation" for coral "cities," with layers and canopies providing shelter for marine organisms to lay eggs and for larvae and young to live in. Notably, among the three areas of Hon Chong, North Hon Chong, with a coral area of 2.33 hectares and a coral cover of up to 70%, is home to a high diversity of hard coral species that play a role in reef formation. Currently, Hon Chong remains the only relatively healthy coral "oasis" in the bay.

This stunning scenery is not easily found elsewhere. Therefore, the local government has established the Hon Chong Coral Reef Protection Cooperative, whose nhiệm vụ is to manage, protect, and conserve the coral reef, as well as organize community tourism tours to contribute to creating sustainable livelihoods for local people.
