Having been involved in the industry for over 15 years, Ms. Dam Thi Thu, an officer at Forest Ranger Station No. 2, Thai Nguyen Provincial Forest Protection Department, is familiar with field trips, steep mountain roads, and long-term patrols.
For Ms. Thu, protecting the forest has never been an easy job. During prolonged periods of hot weather, the risk of forest fires is high, and forest rangers must constantly stay on the ground and inspect key areas.
In many places, the forest roads are treacherous and inaccessible to vehicles, forcing forest rangers to walk for hours to reach the site. Despite this, these journeys have only strengthened her commitment to the profession.
Ms. Dam Thi Thu shared: "When you fall in love with the green of the mountains and the peace of the forests, all difficulties become easier. The greatest joy for a forest ranger is seeing the forests protected intact and people increasingly raising their awareness of forest conservation."
While Ms. Thu embodies perseverance after many years of service, Ms. Be Thi Chuyen represents the youthful energy and enthusiasm of the younger generation of officials. A graduate of Law University, she had many career options before ultimately deciding to take on the role of forest ranger.
In the early days of her career, Ms. Chuyen inevitably felt bewildered as the reality of the job differed greatly from her initial expectations. From field trips and inspections to raising awareness and mobilizing people to protect the forest, everything was a new experience.
After five years of service, Be Thi Chuyen has become accustomed to the work rhythm of a forest ranger. What she remembers most are the trips to the forest and the affection that the people in the highlands have shown to the forest rangers.
From being hesitant, many local people are now proactively cooperating, providing information, and participating in forest protection. For her, that is the motivation to continue working in this profession.

At Forest Ranger Station No. 4, Ms. Nong Thuy Dung is also quietly contributing to preserving the greenery of the mountains and forests every day. Her work, which involves regularly going to the field, inspecting the area, conducting awareness campaigns, and coordinating forest protection patrols, means that these female forest rangers rarely have a full day off.
Even during hot weather, the women still have to traverse many mountainous roads to inspect areas at high risk of forest fires.
Patrols through the forest, days spent on duty from early morning until late at night, and forest fire prevention and control shifts in harsh weather conditions have become familiar tasks for female forest rangers. Despite the pressure and hardships, they persevere in their profession, contributing to preserving the greenery of the mountains and forests.
In a unique and challenging work environment, female forest rangers need not only a sense of responsibility but also resilience, perseverance, and a love for their profession. Their approachable and gentle nature also helps to enhance the effectiveness of communication and mobilization of the public to participate in forest management and protection.
Mr. Bui Duc Hanh, Head of Forest Ranger Station No. 4, assessed: Despite the high pressure and specialized nature of the work, the female forest rangers always demonstrate a sense of responsibility and dedication to their assigned tasks. They consistently perform their professional duties well, while also proactively engaging in propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to work together to protect the forests.
Amidst the vast forests of the northern mountainous region of Thai Nguyen province, the footprints of female forest rangers are still quietly imprinted on the patrol routes every day.
Without fanfare or ostentation, they quietly preserve the greenery of the mountains and forests with all their love and responsibility for their profession. It is this perseverance that has created the beautiful image of these "green roses" amidst the vast wilderness today.
