The trend of ships coming to Hai Phong seaport is changing with many large ships and ships using clean fuel. This will be a boost for the city's seaport to complete the target of cargo throughput in 2025 of more than 112 million tons. According to the Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority, although the world situation has many fluctuations, affecting maritime transport activities, port enterprises and transport enterprises have promoted their capacity in transporting and receiving goods. With the existing growth momentum, the total cargo output target for the whole year of 2025 is expected to be completed early, even exceeding the plan. According to the representative of TC-HICT, to ensure the growth target of cargo throughput through the port, the unit has coordinated with shipping lines to open many new maritime service routes, especially direct routes to the United States and Europe. This July, Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with SITC Group and SITC-Dinh Vu Logistics Company Limited, officially put into operation the first Depot (dry port) in Lach Huyen water port area. This is a combination of Hai Phong Port's operational capacity and SITC's global logistics strength. After the inauguration of phase 1, the parties agreed to expand the project implementation to 30 to 50 hectares by 2030.
Meanwhile, just over 3 months after officially coming into operation, Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (berths No. 5 and No. 6, Lach Huyen Wharf Area) set an important milestone when recording a record exploitation productivity of 42 moves/hour/crane when operating ships. Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port continuously "breaks" the record for receiving the largest-sized and tonnage ships ever to dock at Hai Phong seaport. In July 2025, Hateco Port became the first port operator in the country to successfully deploy the automatic gate system and TAS vehicle appointment scheduling application. Accordingly, 100% of container trucks entering and leaving the port will perform electronic order transactions and proactively schedule time before arriving at the port; the automatic gate system helps reduce vehicle processing time at the gate to less than 30 seconds...
With the strong growth and development of Hai Phong seaport, recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision 1497/QD-TTg approving the investment policy of the Investment Project to build wharfs No. 9, No. 10, No. 11 and No. 12 in Lach Huyen wharf area, Hai Phong city. According to the investment phase 2026-2030, wharfs No. 9 and No. 10 will be invested. Meanwhile, according to the commitment of the investor of wharfs No. 7 and No. 8, Saigon Newport Corporation, the project will officially start construction in the first quarter of 2026 at the latest. This is the driving force and attraction for Hai Phong seaport to reach out to the ocean, welcoming many ships and goods to the port.
