Irrigation works to prevent salinity and store fresh water in Thanh Tan commune (Mo Cay Bac).
Breakthrough in traffic and infrastructure
Immediately after re-establishment, the district identified infrastructure investment as the key to creating momentum for breakthrough. In particular, the Ham Luong bridge project connecting Ben Tre City with Cu Lao Minh, inaugurated in April 2010, is considered a symbol of opening the way for development not only for Mo Cay Bac but also for the western districts of the province. Along with that, key traffic routes such as National Highway (QL) 60, QL.57, Provincial Road 882 were upgraded and expanded, helping to shorten travel time, closely connecting communes in the district with key economic zones.
Not stopping at the main traffic axis, many inter-commune and inter-hamlet roads have been concreted and paved simultaneously according to Project No. 3333 of the province and the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM). From the place where roads were isolated, cars can now reach the commune center, motorbikes can reach each household, creating a dynamic and spacious rural appearance.
At the same time, irrigation works such as: dikes, dams, sluices, canals... are invested in a systematic way, helping to prevent salinity, store fresh water, serve production and stabilize farmers' lives. In the period of 2020 - 2025, Cai Hang sluice is one of the key items of the Essential Infrastructure Project serving the development of the province's seedling and ornamental flower areas, invested in construction in the area of two districts of Mo Cay Bac and Cho Lach.
With the function of preventing salinity and storing fresh water, Cai Hang sluice plays a key role in closing the irrigation system, protecting and maintaining fresh water sources for irrigation of about 5,300 hectares of fruit and ornamental flower gardens of tens of thousands of farming households in the region. When completed, the project will help stabilize production, reduce risks caused by salinity intrusion, and increase the ability to proactively respond to extreme weather conditions. At the same time, it will create a premise to promote agricultural economic development towards high quality, safety and sustainability.
Urbanization integration
A highlight in the urban development process is that Phuoc My Trung commune was recognized as meeting the standards of a type V urban area in 2012. After that, it officially became Phuoc My Trung town, the political and administrative center of the district. This is a strong push for the urbanization process of purely agricultural rural areas, expanding investment opportunities, attracting residents and services. Along with Phuoc My Trung town, communes such as Tan Thanh Binh, Nhuan Phu Tan... continue to receive synchronous infrastructure investment, forming residential clusters and modern rural markets. The district has well implemented livelihood development projects. Typically, the IFAD project, with a total investment of over 25 billion VND. Effectively implementing traffic, irrigation and livelihood works associated with sustainable agricultural development.
In the period of 2020 - 2025, the Phuoc My Trung bypass project is invested by the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, with a total investment of about 180 billion VND. This route is about 3.324km long, including the road leading to the bridge, to relieve traffic pressure for the central area of Phuoc My Trung. At the same time, it effectively connects with inter-district roads and neighboring provincial roads. This is considered a key traffic solution for Mo Cay Bac district in particular and the province in general. The investment in the construction of this route is of particular importance in solving the problem of traffic overload and congestion in the central area of Phuoc My Trung town - where traffic density is high, especially during rush hour and agricultural harvest season.
The bypass not only helps to effectively divert traffic, reducing the load on Provincial Road 882 through the town center, but also ensures safety for residents, students and daily activities and trading in residential areas. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of life of residents and gradually building a civilized, safe, green - clean - beautiful living environment.
Cultural and social investment
One of the special marks is the inauguration of the district’s Martyrs Cemetery, a place to honor heroic martyrs and educate the younger generation about revolutionary traditions. Along with that, provincial-level cultural works have been given attention for restoration and preservation, such as: Professor Ca Van Thinh Memorial Site (Tan Thanh Binh Commune), Saigon - Gia Dinh Party Committee Base Relic Site (Tan Phu Tay Commune), Tan Ngai Communal House (Thanh Ngai Commune)… This is not only a valuable heritage of the locality but also a destination for traditional education, attracting tourists to learn about the history of the land.
Mo Cay Bac district has completed the district health center, and new clinics and health stations have been built. Thereby, the grassroots health care network has been gradually modernized. The whole district has 41 schools and 1 continuing education center. To date, 19 schools have met national standards.
In 2019, marking the 10th anniversary of its re-establishment, the district held the inauguration ceremony of many celebratory works such as offices, roads, schools, medical stations, etc. bearing the mark of the emulation spirit of "New Dong Khoi". The key works are not only material symbols of a development period, but also the crystallization of the spirit of solidarity and efforts to overcome difficulties of all cadres, party members and people in the district.
“Every construction and project built on Mo Cay Bac land is a symbol of determination, aspiration to rise up and constantly innovate. In the development journey to 2025 and the following years, today's milestones will be a solid foundation for Mo Cay Bac to move forward and continue to reach new heights.” (Vice Chairman of Mo Cay Bac District People's Committee Pham Thi Them) |
