More than a month has passed since the devastating flash flood that occurred on the morning of September 9th in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune (Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province), and the people there have returned to their normal lives in their temporary shelters.
Despite the lingering pain and loss, new flowering trees have been planted at the Lang Nu temporary housing area in mid-October.

The 25 houses – temporary shelters for the people of Nu Village – now reflect the close-knit community spirit. Despite the lingering grief, the villagers have shared and encouraged each other to overcome this difficult period.
According to Mr. Hoang Ngoc Xu, Secretary of Lang Nu village, life in the village has temporarily stabilized. Children have returned to school, while adults have also gone back to work.

Having lost his home and loved ones in the devastating flash flood more than a month ago, Nguyen Van Diet (31 years old), currently living in the Lang Nu temporary housing area, shared that the pain has not yet subsided, but now he has to put it aside to look towards the future.
According to Mr. Diet, the residents of the temporary shelter have gradually recovered emotionally after handling the funeral arrangements for their loved ones. They are now working together to plant flowers around their houses and improve their vegetable gardens to enhance their meals.
Ms. Vu Thi Tu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phuc Khanh commune, said that over the past month, along with the local government, the community has shown great concern for the lives of the people in Nu Village.

Ms. Tu said: "The lives of the people have gradually stabilized. Everyone is waiting for the day they can move to the new resettlement area with 40 sturdy houses. At the same time, agricultural land plots to create stable livelihoods for the people are also being developed."
