Proposal to add subjects exempted from and supported to pay tuition fees
On the afternoon of April 25, the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed the National Assembly's Resolution on tuition exemption and support for preschool children, high school students, and students of generaleducation programs at educational institutions in the national education system.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that from September 1, 2025, the State will exempt and support tuition fees for all children and students from 5-year-old preschool to junior high school (public primary school students do not have to pay tuition fees, and tuition fees will be supported for primary school students in private educational institutions in areas where there are not enough public schools). However, there are still many preschool children under 5 years old, high school students, and students of the General Education Program at educational institutions that are not fully and consistently regulated by law and still have to pay tuition fees.

Therefore, the Draft proposes to add subjects exempted from and supported for paying tuition fees that are not fully regulated by law, including: Preschool children under 5 years old studying at educational institutions; high school students, people studying the General Education Program at educational institutions; tuition support for preschool children, general education students at private educational institutions. The Provincial People's Council decides on the level of tuition support paid by the State budget through educational institutions.
Hanoi : Maintain enrollment time, despite administrative unit change
At the meeting of the Steering Committee for the city's examinations and admissions for the 2025-2026 school year held on the afternoon of April 25, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said that the goal set for organizing examinations and admissions in the city in 2025 is to ensure progress and quality, without causing disruption or affecting students.
Therefore, despite the change in administrative units, Hanoi still maintains the plan and time for organizing preschool, grade 1 and grade 6 enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year. Specifically, Hanoi continues to apply the online enrollment method; grade 1 enrollment from July 1 to July 3; preschool enrollment for 5-year-olds from July 4 to July 6; grade 6 enrollment from July 7 to July 9. Direct enrollment time is from July 12 to July 18.

6/6 Vietnamese students won gold medals at the Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad
On April 25, the Ministry of Education and Training received information about the official results of the Vietnamese student delegation participating in the 2nd Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad. Accordingly, the delegation had 6 students participating in the competition, and all 6/6 students won gold medals.
Among the Vietnamese students who won gold medals, three students also scored 40 points. They included twins Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien, grade 11, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam Province. The remaining student also scored 40 points, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, grade 11, Newton Secondary and High School, Hanoi.
The remaining Gold medals went to three students: Tran Quang Nhat, grade 12, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city, with 35 points; Lai Gia Khai, grade 11, High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education, with 34 points; Vu Viet Ha, grade 12, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong province, with 31 points.

9 Vietnamese universities in Asian rankings
Times Higher Education (THE) has just announced the best university rankings in Asia in 2026. This year, Vietnam has 9 ranked schools, an increase of 3 representatives compared to last year.
Ranked 136th, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics leads among 9 universities in Vietnam this year. This is also the first time our country has a university ranked high according to THE's assessment.
Next are Ton Duc Thang University (group 201 - 250), Duy Tan University (group 251 - 300). Hanoi Medical University and Ho Chi Minh City Open University are also new representatives in groups 401 - 500, 501 - 600 respectively.

Hanoi Medical University bans students from wearing low-cut shirts and jeans with ripped knees.
Hanoi Medical University has just issued regulations on school uniforms for students, which prohibits students from wearing pants, short skirts that expose the knees, low-rise pants/skirts, jeans with torn knees, thighs and hems; low-cut shirts, tank tops, short shirts that reach the waist, etc.

Hanoi: Temporarily suspending the operation of a tutoring center for more than 500 students due to violation of Circular 29
According to press reports, the Department of Education and Training of Dong Da district coordinated with the Department of Internal Political Security (PA03) - Hanoi City Police, the People's Committee and the Police of Lang Thuong ward to inspect the tutoring activities of the Vietnam - Russia Cultural Training Center, facility 2 (located at a private house at No. 20, Lane 185, Chua Lang street).
Through the inspection, the inspection team determined that there were 29 teachers and about 600 applications from secondary school students. This facility violated many regulations such as not posting information about subjects, extra teaching time for each subject, list of teachers and tuition fees.

The teacher's profile is still missing 4 labor contracts; the existing contracts do not have complete information about job position and working time. The center has not yet presented monthly fee collection books and documents related to fire prevention and fighting work, etc. Therefore, this center must stop operating from 12:00 on April 23.
Academy of Journalism and Communication stops recruiting block C00
In 2025, the Academy of Journalism and Communication will recruit 2,050 students with four main admission methods: Direct admission and priority admission; Review of academic records; Review of combined international certificates; Review of high school graduation exam scores.

The Academy divides training programs into four groups. Group 1 includes Journalism and Publishing; Group 2 includes theoretical programs; Group 3 includes History; Group 4 includes communication, advertising, and international relations.
This year is also the first year that the Academy has eliminated the admission combination C00 (Literature, History, Geography) in the method of considering academic records and considering high school graduation exam scores; and added some new combinations with the subject of Information Technology.
