On stage to receive the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award, Nicole Kidman spent most of her speech thanking the directors she has worked with over the years. The 1967-born star also confided that despite her long career in the film industry and collaboration with many big-name directors, she has yet to sit in the director's chair.

"I realized I would be a terrible director because I had too many ideas. A director is someone who has to make decisions, unfortunately, that's not my forte," the actress said. She further explained that she prefers reading scripts, supporting artists or helping them shine instead of making decisions as a director. Therefore, she has been a producer for a long time.
