Delegations from fraternal countries and international friends came to pay their respects and wrote to express their deep condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On the morning of July 26, at the National Funeral Home - No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi), at the same time at the Reunification Hall (Ho Chi Minh City) and his hometown in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district (Hanoi), the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and his family solemnly held a funeral for comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , according to the National Funeral protocol.
At the National Funeral Home, the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was held in a solemn and emotional atmosphere.

The high-level delegation of the Republic of Belarus led by Vice President of the Council of the Republic (Senate) Siarhei Khamenka; the high-level delegation of Malaysia led by Deputy Prime Minister Yab Dato'Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof; the delegation of the Philippines led by Minister of Agriculture Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.; the delegation of Thailand led by Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister Jakkapong Sangmanee; and the delegation of the Communist Party of Great Britain led by Mr. Kyril Whittaker, representative of the Party leadership, paid their respects and wrote lines of deep condolences to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Writing in the condolence book, Vice Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Siarhei Khamenka expressed: "On behalf of the President of the Republic of Belarus and all the Belarusian people, I express my deep condolences on the passing of a true Vietnamese patriot, a sincere friend of the Belarusian people. We will always remember him!"
Sending his deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong and all the Vietnamese people, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof wrote: “On behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, I would like to express my deepest condolences on the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In this moment of grief, we would like to express our deepest sympathy and solidarity with the Party leaders, the Government, the people and the General Secretary's family. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a truly dedicated leader who tirelessly devoted himself to the country. Vietnam has just lost a loyal and dedicated leader who made great contributions. May his legacy inspire future generations. The General Secretary made valuable efforts towards the Malaysia-Vietnam Strategic Partnership, contributing to the strengthening of bilateral relations and to regional peace and prosperity. May the late General Secretary rest in peace.”
Sending his deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong and the entire Vietnamese people, Philippine Agriculture Minister Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. wrote: "On behalf of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the entire Philippine Government, the Philippines shares the utmost grief and great loss of the Vietnamese people at the passing of the outstanding leader, diplomat, teacher, theorist and outstanding son of the Vietnamese people, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
We pray for his eternal repose and extend our deepest condolences to his family and comrades.
His noble life and great contributions to Vietnam and the world will forever be remembered by generations. May his love for peace and integrity live on and inspire the hearts and minds of our ASEAN brothers and sisters."

Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Thailand Jakkapong Sangmanee wrote: "On behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the people of Thailand, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's leadership and dedication have helped Vietnam achieve success in developing the country in a stable and prosperous manner.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong is a great friend of Thailand, who has played a great role in promoting the stable and strong development of the relationship between the two countries. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Thailand in 2013 was an important page in history, in which the two countries' diplomatic relations were upgraded to a Strategic Partnership. The Thai people and all of us will forever remember General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong."
Representative of the Communist Party of Great Britain leadership, Mr. Kyril Whittaker, wrote in the condolence book: “Farewell to the most noble revolutionary comrade, leader of the Vietnamese people, light of the revolutionary movement. May you rest in peace.”
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a leader with great and especially outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He has left profound marks in both theory and practice, demonstrated through the very important results achieved, bearing the historical mark of foreign affairs.
As an outstanding theorist, the General Secretary has made enormous contributions to the development of theories on Vietnamese diplomacy.
With profound contemplation of foreign policy over more than 70 years, the General Secretary is the one who has comprehensively systematized the foreign policy philosophy of our ancestors, the theory of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, the foreign policy of the Party, concluding a very special and unique school of foreign affairs and diplomacy of the Ho Chi Minh era, imbued with the identity of the "Vietnamese bamboo tree", with a firm root, a strong trunk, flexible branches, imbued with the soul, character and spirit of the Vietnamese people.
This foreign policy ideology and philosophy has penetrated deeply into awareness and become the guiding principle for Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy activities.
The great contributions of the General Secretary have brought Vietnam's foreign affairs to a new height in all fields and activities.
The memorial service for comrade Nguyen Phu Trong will be held at 1:00 p.m. on July 26, 2024 at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi; Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City) and his hometown in Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district (Hanoi).
Funeral at 3:00 p.m. the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi city.
