Faith and aspiration for a new journey

On the night of June 30, at the Vietnam National Music and Dance Theater (Phan Dinh Phung Ward, Thai Nguyen Province), more than 120 artists, actors, singers and hundreds of hearts beat together in the special art program "Thai Nguyen - Faith and Aspiration". The performance was not only a solemn greeting to a new Thai Nguyen after the merger with Bac Kan, but also a beautiful song about the history, people, culture and strong development aspirations of the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen.

The art performances were elaborately and deeply staged, vividly depicting the image of Thai Nguyen homeland.

Art night encapsulates the soul of the homeland

The art night “Thai Nguyen - Faith and Aspiration” is a subtle cultural highlight in the historical moment of the country in general, and of Thai Nguyen in particular. Under the talented hands of Meritorious Artist Mai Thanh and director Le Van Ket, the 150-minute program is a symphony of nearly 20 elaborately staged, meaningful singing, dancing and music performances performed by more than 120 artists, singers and actors from Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan . Each performance is a slice of memory, a deep low note or a brilliant climax, painting a multi-layered picture of Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan yesterday, today and tomorrow.

From “Shining Faith” to “Thai Nguyen, Motherland’s Love”; from “Legend of Nui Coc Lake” to “Fascinated by Ba Be Lake”; from the resounding melodies of “Messages” sung with Then and Tinh instruments, to the poetic dance “Morning Mist of Tra Land”, all blend together like a stream of memories, filled with cultural materials and national identity. Each song praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland and the country’s renewal resounded in the auditorium as if embracing the audience’s hearts, blending with graceful dances, arousing pride and love for the homeland in each person.

In particular, the presence of actors from the Bac Kan Province Ethnic Arts Troupe and the Thai Nguyen Cultural and Arts Center is a vivid symbol of the close bond between two lands that were once separated but have never been apart in the hearts of the people and in the flesh and blood of history.

Dancer Nguyen Van Anh, Thai Nguyen Province Cultural and Art Center, shared backstage with her eyes still shining with emotion: Perhaps throughout my artistic career, I will never forget this performance. Not just performing, we artists from Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan truly lived in every drum beat, every dance move, every song that rang out on stage. Each performance is not simply a performance, but a piece of the soul of our homeland that is entrusted. Proud, happy and also full of pressure, because we understand that we are standing in the middle of a moment that will never be repeated, a moment that is written into history with the heart of art.

Standing out among the artistic colors is the performance of the Ao Dai “Khoi Nguon” by designer Han Phuong, the traditional Ao Dai not only gracefully follows the artist’s footsteps but also carries the cultural depth of the Vietnamese women in the North. There, the audience not only sees the figure of a mother, a sister quietly working hard, but also sees the proud eyes, the desire to reach far of those who are living and building their homeland every day.

A special performance in the program.

Amidst the emotions of the art night, young people like Nguyen Quynh Anh, born in 2006, from Dong Bam ward, had unforgettable experiences: I have never seen Thai Nguyen told in such a beautiful way. It is not just about numbers or administrative maps, but also about emotions, about vivid history, about ordinary people rising from hardship. I feel more motivated and see more clearly the responsibility of the young generation in contributing to a new, more developed and modern Thai Nguyen.

Sharing the same sentiment, Nguyen Thi Thanh, from Bac Kan ward, who attended a large-scale art program in Thai Nguyen for the first time, shared: I am truly proud to witness this sacred moment. This unification is not like a return, but a continuation and elevation. We, the people of Bac Kan, believe that in the new common home of Thai Nguyen, our voice and identity will still be respected and promoted.

Prelude to a new chapter

In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, sent a message full of emotions and strong political determination: From July 1, 2025, Thai Nguyen province will enter a new development phase with a larger scale, more abundant resources, stronger aspirations and higher responsibilities... The merger is not only an adjustment of administrative boundaries but also a blend of history, culture, people and aspirations for development.

The speech was like a call to a new, bright future opening up before our eyes. The solemn atmosphere of the art night also became warmer when the applause continued endlessly like the voice of the people, agreeing and placing full faith in the choice of history.

From the ancient Bac Thai to the merger of Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan today, it seems that everything has been arranged very fatefully. It is a journey back to continue going far, a new beginning of a more heroic, more modern, more sustainable chapter.

The merger of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces is not only an administrative milestone, but also a great opportunity to optimize the apparatus, promote resources and create a boost for comprehensive development. With a two-level government model, 92 administrative units at commune and ward levels are streamlined and reasonable, the new Thai Nguyen province promises to operate smoothly and effectively from the very first days.

Not only that, what people clearly feel is the careful and thorough preparation of the leadership of the two provinces. The officials who are ready to leave their duties before the deadline, the personnel who are carefully selected for new positions, all are showing the determination to build a Thai Nguyen that develops substantially, not just on paper.

During the performance, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Loan said: I would like to express my deep gratitude to the generations of leaders who have devoted their lives to the development of the two provinces. And especially, I would like to thank the cadres, civil servants and public employees who have proactively arranged their work and left their duties before the prescribed deadline, contributing to creating favorable conditions for the process of restructuring the apparatus.

Thai Nguyen today is not only an industrial capital, a famous tea region, a land of learning... but also a land rich in culture, a place where many unique traditional values are exchanged and assimilated. The event on the night of June 30 is a vivid proof of that: when each lyric, each melody touches the hearts of the audience, awakening in them love for their homeland and national pride.

Mr. Duong Hong Minh, a citizen of Gia Sang ward, could not hide his emotion: I believe in the decision to merge. Because belief is a solid foundation for all changes. The leaders have carefully calculated, the people agree. And culture and art through this performance are the strongest glue. From now on, we are no longer two, but one heart, one aspiration.

The program attracted a large audience.

Closing the program, the song "Viet Bac sang ngoai" was played by both art troupes as if recalling the old days of Bac Thai... There, the audience seemed to see the image of their fathers opening up the land, the image of their mothers working hard in the tea fields, the bright-eyed, brown-haired children crossing the village slope to learn to read and write, and saw themselves today standing in the middle of the moment of harmony between two regions of memory.

The chorus of “Shine of Viet Bac” resounds not only to end, but to open a new journey. Thai Nguyen province after the merger is now not only larger in terms of administrative boundaries, but also deeper in terms of culture. And on the journey forward, we all carry within us a belief, a belief in a new Thai Nguyen: prosperous, humane and integrated - where beautiful songs will continue to resonate on the journey to create the future.
