Along with the rest of the country, for the past 84 years, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization of Son La province has always strived to do a good job of caring for, nurturing, and educating children and young people. The organization's activities, emulation movements, and campaigns, with their practical content, create a healthy environment and beneficial playgrounds, contributing to guiding children to self-improvement and comprehensive development in morality, intellect, physical fitness, and aesthetics.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Chairman of the Provincial Children's Council, said: The province has more than 238,000 members of the Children's Council, participating in activities at 338 teams. Every year, the Provincial Children's Council directs the Children's Councils at all levels to organize activities to educate children and teenagers on ideals, ethics, and lifestyles. Typical examples include the movement "Son La Children Compete to Follow the Five Teachings of Uncle Ho," "Journey to Red Addresses," and the thematic program "One Beautiful Story, One Good Book, One Shining Example Each Week"...
During the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, 210 youth groups organized visits to historical sites in and outside the province for over 30,000 members; 292 youth groups organized thematic activities such as "One beautiful story, one good book, one shining example each week," attracting 106,000 participants. In addition, youth groups regularly organized extracurricular activities such as meetings with historical witnesses; history quizzes; propaganda on maritime sovereignty ; and participation in cleaning up historical, cultural, revolutionary sites, scenic spots, and martyrs' memorials in their localities.
Implementing the "Small Plan" movement, youth councils at all levels organized specific and practical activities, such as: raising chickens for the "Small Plan"; collecting firewood; collecting scrap paper and plastic bottles, etc., raising 50 million VND to support and help disadvantaged children and build youth projects. They also organized activities to foster reading habits and develop a reading culture among children, with 100% of youth groups implementing the "Read and Follow the Youth Newspaper" movement; the "Creative and Experiential Recess" model; and various "Skills Clubs," STEM clubs, etc.
The Youth Union of Moc Ly Primary School, Moc Chau town, with 400 members, has implemented innovative approaches in organizing its activities. In September 2023, the Youth Union piloted the model "Enhancing digital skills for children through organizing activities of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization".
Ms. Do Thu Thao, Head of the Youth Union at Moc Ly Primary School, said: "The model focuses on applying digital transformation to the design of youth newsletters; organizing activities for members to participate in 'Reading Space and Digital Youth Union Activities'; building youth projects 'Exploring Moc Chau Through the Window' and 'Smart Youth Union Member Handbook'. These activities attract a large number of students who participate enthusiastically and confidently, thereby improving their digital technology skills and enhancing the quality of Youth Union activities."
The Provincial Youth Union and the Children's Councils at all levels have implemented many projects and activities that bring value to the community. They have commenced the construction of a "House of Happiness" for the family of Vu Linh Chi, a 4th-grade student at Chieng Sinh Primary School in Son La City, with a support fund of 80 million VND.
Vu Linh Chi shared: "I am very happy to receive financial support from the kind people to build a house. From now on, my grandmother and I will have a new place to live, and we won't have to worry about leaks when it rains. I will try my best to study hard to become a useful citizen for society."
To celebrate the 84th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth on May 18th, the Provincial Youth Union will organize an art program with the theme: "Son La Children Offer a Thousand Songs to President Ho Chi Minh".
Within the framework of the program, 24 team leaders and 51 team members with outstanding achievements in implementing the "Son La Children Competing to Follow the Five Teachings of Uncle Ho" movement in 2025 will be honored. This is an opportunity for each team member, teenager, and child to further cultivate pride in the glorious history of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization. From there, they will continue to emulate the generations of their ancestors, cultivating virtue and talent, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland.
