(GLO) - Entering the new spring season, Van Duc commune is showing clear signs of improvement with a stable economy, improved living standards for the people, and a strong grassroots political system.

These achievements were fostered by the close leadership of the Party committee, the exemplary spirit of cadres and Party members, and the consensus and joint efforts of the people.

The Party branch is the nucleus, and Party members are the core.

Van Duc commune was formed by merging three communes: An Thanh, An Tin, and An Son of the former Hoai An district. Currently, the commune's Party Committee has 721 members operating in 24 branches, including 13 village branches and 11 branches in agencies, schools, and cooperatives. Recognizing the leading role of the grassroots Party organization in creating the foundation for the successful implementation of the local political tasks, the commune's Party branches have proactively reformed the content and methods of their activities, linking resolutions with specific, practical tasks.

For example, the Party Committee of Thanh Luong village has developed appropriate regulations and activity plans; prepared activity content that closely reflects the local situation, ensuring adherence to principles and procedures. As a result, the quality of Party branch activities has gradually improved, creating unity within the branch and consensus among the people. Based on this foundation, the Party branch has achieved and exceeded all targets and tasks assigned by the commune Party Committee.

Specifically, the campaign mobilized people to donate land, contribute labor, and provide funds for the construction of new rural infrastructure; attracted over 50 households to participate in the safe residential area model and the rapid response team for fire prevention and control; maintained flower-lined roads, security cameras, etc., contributing to changing the appearance of the residential area.

Mr. Pham Van Bang, Secretary of the Thanh Luong Village Party Branch, said: “We use the quality of our activities as a foundation to select key tasks at each stage. The Party Branch clearly assigns people, tasks, and responsibilities, especially those directly related to people's lives. Thanks to this, the movements are maintained stably, and people actively participate.”

At the An Thuong 1 village Party branch, the implementation of the "Four Good Party Branches" model is identified as a consistent solution in building the Party organization. Each Party member plays a pioneering and exemplary role, linking the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style with the performance of tasks in the locality.

Mr. Dang Thanh Suong, Secretary of the An Thuong 1 Village Party Branch, said: "The Party Branch currently has 30 members, assigned to oversee groups of households to disseminate information and mobilize the people. Thanks to this, 241 households have registered for waste collection; two 2-kilometer-long national flag-lined roads have been constructed; five new concrete roads, nearly 1.4 kilometers long, have been built, with a total contribution of 720 million VND; and thousands of square meters of land have been donated for road construction and the building of a cultural center… With these achievements, the village Party Branch has been rated as having excellently completed its tasks for seven consecutive years."

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Van Duc commune, stated: When the Party branch plays its pivotal role and its activities are closely linked to specific tasks, the Party's policies will quickly be implemented in daily life. The synchronization from the organization to the Party members creates a strong sense of unity, enhances responsibility and consensus among the people, contributing to socio-economic development and maintaining security and order.

People prosper thanks to sound policies.

Along with Party building work, the Party Committee of Van Duc commune focuses on leading the sustainable development of the economy . Based on practical conditions, the commune's Party Committee issues specialized resolutions, identifying specific goals, tasks, and solutions; at the same time, it promotes propaganda and mobilizes people to change the structure of crops and livestock, and apply scientific and technological advancements to production.

According to Mr. Phan Van Trong, Secretary of the Hoi An Village Party Branch, previously, the people mainly grew rice and acacia trees, but the yield was low and income was unstable. Following the direction of the commune Party Committee, the village Party Branch organized a meeting with the people to discuss and agree on a new direction, gradually shifting to fruit tree cultivation and developing free-range chicken farming and hydroponic vegetable cultivation; and encouraged people to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank to invest in production development and increase income.

A prime example is the hydroponic vegetable farming model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien (Hoi An village). With the encouragement and guidance of the Party branch and Party members, she borrowed 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to build two greenhouses for hydroponic vegetable farming on an area of ​​nearly 1,400 m²; utilizing vacant land to plant 150 pepper plants and raise 300 chickens. This model brings in a stable income of over 350 million VND per year.

Similarly, in An Thuong 1 village, Party members assigned to oversee each group of households directly guided residents in reorganizing production and applying new techniques. Residents introduced high-yield rice varieties; converted 12 hectares of low-yield crops to high-yield fruit trees; and harvested and replanted 55 hectares of acacia trees… As a result, many effective models were established, increasing people's income.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom's household (An Thuong 1 village) owned 2 hectares of acacia hills, but the yield was quite low. Thanks to guidance from Party members in the village, she borrowed 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to switch to planting 450 guava trees interspersed with 150 green pomelo trees. The new model yields a profit of 130 million VND per year. Ms. Thom shared: "Thanks to the guidance, I learned how to effectively switch crops and manage the hillside garden scientifically. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult for my family to have such a stable income as we do now."

According to the People's Committee of Van Duc commune, in the 2024-2025 period, the average rice yield for the Winter-Spring and Summer-Autumn seasons will reach 7.18 tons/ha; the total rice production will reach 12,137 tons, exceeding the set plan; corn and other crops will reach 3,564 tons; nearly 70 hectares of pomelo trees will be maintained; nearly 201 hectares of crops will be converted; and the total livestock and poultry population will exceed 181,000 head. The average per capita income of the commune is estimated at 64 million VND/year. By the end of 2025, the poverty rate in the commune will be 1.08%, and the near-poverty rate will be 1.56%.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong affirmed: “The achievements of Van Duc commune are proof that wherever the Party is strong, socio-economic development and people's lives are improved. In the coming time, the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee will continue to lead the effective implementation of the work of consolidating and building Party organizations throughout the Party Committee to be truly clean and strong; strengthen the direction of Party branches to implement the motto "close to the people, serving the people" so that cadres and Party members are closely involved with the grassroots, resolving difficulties and creating consensus; mobilize the people to promote crop conversion, exploit potential, improve material and spiritual life, and aim to complete the new rural development goals by 2028.”
