According to NBC News, the phone call between President Trump and President Xi Jinping took place on the morning of September 19. In a post on Truth Social, the White House boss said the conversation was "very good".
"Had a very productive call with President Xi. We made progress on many very important issues, including trade, fentanyl, the need to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and approval of the TikTok deal," Trump said.

President Trump added that he and President Xi Jinping have agreed to meet in person at the APEC Summit in South Korea in November. Mr. Trump will visit China in 2026 and Mr. Xi will visit the United States at a later date.
"The call was very good. We will continue to discuss by phone. We both look forward to a face-to-face meeting at APEC," the US President wrote on Truth Social.
Chinese state media said Mr Trump and Mr Xi had a "candid and in-depth exchange of views", stressing that the call was "pragmatic, positive and constructive".
President Xi Jinping has asked the United States to avoid imposing trade restrictions on China, according to a report by China's state news agency Xinhua .
Regarding the TikTok deal, Xi said the Chinese government "respects the decisions of companies and welcomes them to negotiate business on the basis of abiding by market rules to reach a solution that is in line with Chinese laws and regulations and balances interests."
President Xi Jinping said China hopes the United States will provide an open, fair and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies investing in the United States.
