The floods not only caused property damage but also seriously polluted people's water supply. Meanwhile, the tap water system has not been restored, causing many households to lack drinking water and water for daily use.
The family of Mrs. Luc Thi Nham, in Ben Gieng residential group, Quan Trieu ward, and many other households here are transporting buckets of water from the floodwater to clean and sanitize their houses. Mrs. Nham shared: My house is flooded up to the roof, in front of me there is no clean water for daily activities, washing, now there is no water anywhere, everything is gone. It cannot be fixed immediately because the pumps are all broken.
According to preliminary statistics, the whole province has over 5,000 flooded and isolated houses, many roads are flooded and cut off. This means that thousands of households are in a state of lack of water for daily use.
Faced with a water shortage, some households in isolated flood-affected areas located on high ground, not yet flooded, have used pumps to exploit well water for their family needs. Not only serving their own needs, many also support surrounding families.
Mr. Nham Quoc Khanh, residing in group 72, Phan Dinh Phung ward, used his car to transport water to support many households in the area, making efforts to help them overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
Talking to us, Mr. Nham Quoc Khanh said that at this time there is no tap water to use, because my house has a well, and has a generator to pump from the well for daily use. Many households in the area also do not have tap water to use, so I use a truck to transport water to support everyone to use temporarily.
Immediately after the flood receded, people took advantage of every hour to clean water tanks, wells, collect garbage, mud and temporarily treat water sources by manual methods to ensure timely water supply for daily life. Along with that, many relief teams are actively present in flood-affected areas to support people. In particular, focusing mainly on providing bottled water and essential necessities for people in flooded areas.
