
Welcoming the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025) and looking forward to the 18th Hanoi Party Congress and the 14th Party Congress, on the afternoon of October 9, the Hanoi People's Committee held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tran Hung Dao Bridge construction investment project - the 7th bridge across the Red River.
Attending the ceremony were Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi Bui Huyen Mai, along with representatives of central and local ministries, branches.
Tran Hung Dao Bridge is one of eight key projects in Hanoi starting construction this time, with a total investment of more than 15,967 billion VND.
The project starts from the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong, ends at Nguyen Son street (Long Bien district), with a total length of about 4.18 km.
The main bridge over the Red River is 870m long, has 6 spans, a cross-section of 43m, and has 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 bicycle lanes and 2 pedestrian lanes.
The approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a cross-section of 25.5 - 30m with a total length of about 1.42km.
The project will invest in the complete construction of 3 intersections, including: a grade-separated intersection with Tran Khanh Du and Nguyen Khoi streets; an intersection with the Red River embankment (Long Bien - Xuan Quan street); and an intersection at the same level with Nguyen Son street. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan, Tran Hung Dao Bridge is part of the development plan of 18 bridges across the Red River, contributing to connecting main traffic axes, promoting urbanization on both banks, reducing traffic congestion in the central area, and expanding the modern development space of the capital.
Representing the contractor consortium, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, General Director of Dat Phuong Group, committed to implementing the construction scientifically and technically, mobilizing maximum resources, using modern equipment, strictly controlling material sources, ensuring quality, progress, labor safety and environmental sanitation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized: “Developing synchronous infrastructure is one of the three strategic breakthroughs identified by the 13th National Party Congress. Modern transport infrastructure is an important foundation to open up new development space and change the face of the country.”
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in recent times, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, and the Government have focused and prioritized large resources to invest in developing key national transport infrastructure such as: highways, international airports, urban railways, seaports, etc., creating an important driving force contributing to socio-economic development, opening up new development space and clearly changing the face of the country.
The Deputy Prime Minister praised the efforts of Hanoi city and asked construction units to ensure quality, progress, aesthetics, environmental sanitation and labor safety, harmonizing the interests of the State, people and enterprises, contributing to improving investment efficiency.
He also requested the city to promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, strong decentralization, remove cumbersome administrative procedures, well implement the "6 clear" principles in management and operation, create a patriotic emulation atmosphere, work for the people and for the development of the capital Hanoi.
When completed, Tran Hung Dao Bridge will not only be a modern traffic project, but also a symbol of the creative spirit and determination to innovate of the Capital, contributing to the goal of developing synchronous and modern infrastructure, realizing the vision of "Hanoi - Green, cultured, civilized and modern city".
