The Chieng An Ward Farmers' Association was established on the basis of merging the Farmers' Associations of Chieng Den, Chieng Xom and Chieng An Ward, with over 2,600 members, operating in 27 branches. Mr. Luong Van Kien, Chairman of the Chieng An Ward Farmers' Association, said: In order to deepen the movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", the Ward Farmers' Association has encouraged members to join and participate in building cooperatives, cooperative groups, and professional branches. Coordinate with units to organize training, transfer technical advances, and vocational training. At the same time, replicate effective economic models in the area.
To support farmers in developing production and business, the Association has implemented many activities to supply seeds and agricultural materials; received over 151 billion VND in trust from the Social Policy Bank, the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, through 37 savings and loan groups, creating conditions for over 1,600 members to borrow capital to develop the economy and expand production. Implemented 10 livestock projects with 47 households borrowing capital from the Farmers' Support Fund, with an amount of over 1.3 billion VND. Since then, many effective economic development models have emerged, such as: Red-fleshed dragon fruit growing model; plum and apricot growing model in Tong Xet village; cow raising model in pens, 3b cows in Pang village, Trung Tam village; goat raising model in pens in Tam Quynh village; black chicken raising model in Nam Giang village...
The professional pig breeding farmers association in Trung Tam village, Chieng An ward is one of the typical models. Established in 2022 with 25 members, the association operates according to the principles of "5 self" (voluntary, self-conscious, self-governing, self-responsible) and "5 together" (same field of labor, profession, livestock production, business; same concern; same sharing; same responsibility; same benefit).
Ms. Tong Thi Xien, Head of the Professional Association of Pig Breeding in Trung Tam Village, shared: Initially, the Association was supported with 134 breeding pigs, distributed breeding pigs to members and provided guidance on breeding techniques and disease prevention. Every year, members also donate 1-2 breeding pigs to help poor and near-poor households. Up to now, the Association has had 50 members participating, supporting 65 breeding pigs for 25 new members, bringing the total number of breeding pigs to 258. In addition to supporting breeding pigs and care techniques, the Association also mobilized members to participate in raising a savings fund of 35 million VND, helping members in difficulty borrow capital to develop production.
Mr. Lo Van Chuong, Tam Quynh village, member of the Trung Tam village pig breeding association, said: The family was supported with 3 breeding pigs, food and participated in training courses on breeding techniques, and visited and learned about models in the province. Currently, the family maintains a herd of 20 pigs, selling 2 tons of commercial pigs to the market each year, deducting expenses and earning a profit of more than 70 million VND. In addition, livestock waste is treated to protect the environment and fertilized for the family's 1 hectare of coffee, thanks to which the trees grow and develop well, harvesting nearly 10 tons of fruit each year, earning more than 200 million VND.
Along with economic development, the Farmers' Association of the ward also actively mobilizes members to participate in collecting, classifying, and treating waste at households, limiting the amount of waste released into the environment; regularly launching campaigns to clean village roads, alleys, and take care of flower and tree paths every Saturday and Sunday. In addition, it mobilizes cadres and farmer members to actively participate in social security activities, support the Fund for the Poor, and respond to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind"...
The movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has created motivation to encourage members and farmers to enthusiastically compete in labor production, innovate thinking and working methods, actively transform the structure of crops and livestock, exploit the strengths and potential of land, boldly apply scientific and technological advances and new technologies in production, strive to get rich legitimately, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
