Safe products, high nutritional value
The Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025 is approaching, the commodity market is entering the most vibrant season of the year. This year, organic products are of interest to consumers for use and gifts.
Walking around supermarkets, rice dealers or stores specializing in selling organic, clean food, you can see many types of rice for sale and quite attractive to customers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan - owner of a food store in Can Duoc town (Can Duoc district, Long An province), said: "On normal days, eating rice is fine, but during Tet, people have the mentality of stocking up their rice bins and choosing delicious, branded rice, so specialty rice and organic rice sell quite well during Tet. In addition to buying rice for Tet, many people also give it as gifts."
Vietnamese brand organic rice, beautifully packaged, helps consumers easily choose to use and give as gifts during Tet.
Besides rice, organic vegetables are also popular with consumers because they are safe products with high nutritional value and suitable for a healthy lifestyle.
The owner of Hoang Long organic vegetable shop - Nguyen Thi Thanh Tu (Ward 1, Tan An City), said: “Choosing to buy organic products not only brings delicious meals but also protects the health of the whole family. Therefore, I always prioritize growing vegetables with organic fertilizers to bring safe products. Currently, my shop provides many types of vegetables such as mustard greens, bok choy, water spinach, amaranth, lettuce,... All vegetables are grown using organic methods, without using chemical fertilizers, stimulants, genetically modified varieties or pesticides”.
The special thing about Hoang Long Organic Vegetable Store is that the price is stable all year round, even during Tet. Each bag of vegetables costs 10,000 VND, making it easy for consumers to choose. This Tet, the store offers many new products, including Japanese chives.
According to Ms. Thanh Tu, Japanese chives are crispy, sweet, and can be eaten from root to tip. In addition, for the convenience of customers, the store also prepares vegetable sets to go with sweet hot pot including: Chinese cabbage, Chinese bok choy, spinach, Chinese celery, green mustard,...
These vegetables are not only suitable for hot pot but can also be processed into stir-fried and boiled dishes suitable for vegetarian menus during Tet. In addition, the shop also has a set of herbs such as perilla, fish mint, Indian laurel, lolot leaves, cassia leaves, etc. to wrap rice paper or eat with vermicelli.
Organic vegetables are popular with consumers during Tet holiday because they are safe products with high nutritional value.
Ms. Tran Thi Mong Linh (Tam Vu town, Chau Thanh district) shared: “Rice, vegetables and organic fruits are always prioritized for my family's meals. Although the price is higher than normal agricultural products, organic agricultural products are of natural origin, do not use stimulants or pesticides, ensure health, and have a natural, more delicious flavor. This year's Tet, instead of buying gift baskets of cakes and candies, I choose to buy organic foods as gifts for relatives. To ensure safety and quality, I choose to buy at reputable stores or familiar places."
Focus on product quality
In recent years, consumers tend to choose organic grapefruit to display during Tet, because of its sweet taste and no worries about chemical residues.
Grasping the market demand, the Head of the Farmers' Association of Binh Trung 1 Hamlet, Nhon Thanh Trung Commune, Tan An City - Mai Thi Kim Phuong researched and learned techniques to choose the right time to harvest fruit for Tet.
Ms. Phuong shared: “Choosing fruits according to the growers’ wishes not only helps the gardeners master the techniques but also increases the value of the product components, helps stabilize output, and increases profits. To ensure the safety and health of consumers, I always focus on product quality.
My grapefruit garden is grown organically, without using chemical fertilizers, but using cow and chicken manure. I plan to supply 4 tons of green-skin grapefruit to the market this Tet at a price of 35,000 VND/kg.
Starting from December 23, the harvest will be gradually brought to the market. In particular, some “lucky” grapefruits (grapefruit with convex or concave spots on the fruit) are considered unique and strange and will have a “slightly” higher price because it is believed to bring luck when displayed during Tet.
It is expected that this year, Ms. Mai Thi Kim Phuong (Nhon Thanh Trung commune, Tan An city) will supply the market with 4 tons of organic green-skin grapefruit.
According to Ms. Phuong, organic grapefruit farming not only brings grapefruit with delicious flavor and is safe for consumers' health, but also contributes to improving the quality of the soil.
Thanks to the use of natural fertilizers such as cow manure, chicken manure and no chemicals, the soil becomes more fertile every year, maintaining its porosity and beneficial microorganisms. Thereby, contributing to environmental protection, creating a sustainable farming ecosystem, helping grapefruit trees grow healthily, stabilizing productivity and fruit quality in the long term.
To make grapefruit trees bear fruit in time for Tet, gardeners must closely monitor and adjust the pruning time.
Using organic products is not only a modern consumer trend but also reflects a positive change in people's lifestyle and consumer thinking.
With guaranteed quality and safe origin, organic products bring peace of mind to users; at the same time, express sincere concern for relatives and friends through gifts, aiming for a peaceful and meaningful Tet./.
