Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding him, singer Noo Phuoc Thinh's team stated that he will clarify the matter to the media after preparing all the necessary documents and returning to Ho Chi Minh City tomorrow, November 2nd.
Previously, musician Do Hieu stated that singer Noo Phuoc Thinh would not be allowed to use eight songs: "Forever Together", "Wiping Away Tears", "Hold Me Tonight", "Don't Look Back", "Coming Together Was a Mistake", "Cause I Love You", "Please Don't Let Go" and "Like the First Moment" because he is the author and copyright holder.
These songs were released between 2014 and 2018. Singer Noo Phuoc Thinh signed an exclusive contract to exploit and use them for two years. Therefore, from November 1, 2023, songwriter Do Hieu announced a ban on Noo Phuoc Thinh performing these 8 hit songs.
According to musician Do Hieu, after the exclusive contract expired, Noo Phuoc Thinh's side did not renew the contract or renegotiate the copyright fees. For many years, according to Do Hieu, Noo Phuoc Thinh only contacted them to request permission to perform at large events, ignoring many smaller shows at venues such as bars, clubs, and lounges.
Furthermore, the singer also commercially exploited these works on several online platforms not included in the original agreement, without notifying the author.
According to musician Do Hieu, the two sides could not find common ground, so he decided not to allow Noo Phuoc Thinh's team to continue exploiting these hit songs.
