Born in 1927 in Vinh city, Nghe An , in a wealthy family, Ms. Mai Thi Chau, real name of Meritorious Artist Mai Chau, gave up her life as a young lady to follow the call of revolution. In 1956, she joined the Vietnam Film Studio (the predecessor of Vietnam Feature Film Studio) as a voiceover artist. She then became an actress.

Throughout her career, Meritorious Artist Mai Chau has appeared in a series of classic films such as Chi Tu Hau; The Fight Still Continues; Sao Thang Tam; Lang Vu Dai Ngay Ay; Dem Hoi Long Tri; La Ngoc Canh Vang ... Although she only participated in about 30 films, she left a deep impression with roles that had inner depth and a special style.
