The Hollywood Reporter reported on July 26th that Sinead O'Connor's family had confirmed the sad news to the media.
"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sinead O'Connor. Her family and friends are grieving and request privacy during this difficult time," the statement read.
Sinead O'Connor made her last public appearance in March at the RTÉ Choice Music Awards. She was met with enthusiastic acclaim for her classic album "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" and won an award.

In 2022, she revealed to the media that her 17-year-old son had died by suicide, forcing her to cancel performances for the year due to grief over the tragic loss.
Sinead O'Connor suffered from bipolar disorder and struggled with mental health for a long time. She released her debut album, "The Lion and the Cobra," in 1987. The album garnered significant attention and earned her first Grammy nomination. Following that, she released "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got." In this second album, the song "Nothing Compares 2 U" brought her international success. The album earned four Grammy nominations, but Sinead O'Connor later declined the nominations and awards.
"Nothing Compares 2 U" was written by the late legendary singer Prince for his project, The Family, in 1985. He didn't think it would become famous until Sinead O'Connor performed it and topped the charts. Throughout her life, she released 11 studio albums and received 13 music awards. She announced her retirement after her final album, "No Veteran Dies Alone," was released in early 2022. This singer also earned the nickname "the bald singer" because of her unique and distinctive bald hairstyle.

Her first husband was music producer John Reynolds, whom she married in 1989 but quickly separated from. Her second husband was journalist Nicholas Sommerlad, whom she married in 2001. Her third husband was Steve Cooney, whom she married in July 2010 and recently divorced this past April. She has four children from her previous marriages.
After overcoming the crisis of her painful third marriage, she married Barry Herridge for the fourth time in 2011 but they separated after 16 days, then reconciled but it didn't last long. In 2021, she confirmed she was single and not looking for a romantic relationship with anyone.
She had previously engaged in many controversial actions due to her illness. In 2018, she converted to Islam and changed her name to Shuhada' Sadaqat.
