Having just retired from teaching, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong was entrusted by the local authorities with the position of Head of the Front Committee for Community Affairs in Block 1, An Son Ward.
The COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out in late 2019, presented a challenge for her in her new role. Implementing disease prevention and control plans at all levels, Ms. Phuong, along with the community monitoring and awareness team, mobilized people to implement disease prevention measures, get vaccinated, and maintain environmental hygiene. According to Mr. Pham Ba Sang, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Son Ward, upholding the role of Fatherland Front officials as taught by President Ho Chi Minh, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, along with the Party branch and neighborhood committee, focused on effectively carrying out propaganda and mobilization work to build a civilized and sustainably developed neighborhood. Ms. Phuong was recently awarded by the Tam Ky City Party Committee for her outstanding achievements in implementing Conclusion 01 dated May 18, 2021, of the Politburo , on the occasion of the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024).
After the COVID-19 pandemic subsided, participating in the campaign to install and activate electronic identity verification accounts under the Government's Project 06, Ms. Phuong actively coordinated with the neighborhood committee to review each household. From there, together with the police, military , and ward officials, she went to each house to install and activate VNeID for citizens.
Sharing about the work she has done, she confided that, having been assigned tasks by the organization, she had to be dedicated, enthusiastic, and persistent in all her work, especially when working with the people; she had to go to every alley, knock on every door, and check on every individual to achieve high efficiency.
Inspired by President Ho Chi Minh's teachings: "Great unity is the mission of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Front cadres are the ones who undertake that mission," over the years, Ms. Phuong, along with the Front's working committee and various associations, has actively mobilized the people to participate in economic development and neighborhood building.
Thanks to public support, Hoang Hoa Tham street has won first, second, and third prizes at the city level for street decoration and beautification for three consecutive years.
Residents in the neighborhood contributed to the construction of 5 concrete roads, upgrading the drainage system, and paving sidewalks on 4 roads under the principle of social mobilization, with the State and the people working together, raising a total of 155 million VND.
In particular, in 2023, the State invested in the construction of a cultural center with an area of 1,183 square meters, with a total investment of nearly 3 billion VND, of which more than 100 million VND was contributed by officials, Party members and the people.
Learn from Uncle Ho, and be more determined.
Like many exemplary individuals at the grassroots level who learn from and follow President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong believes that "following" his example must be done through practical and concrete actions, closely linked to assigned tasks.
According to Ms. Phuong, learning from and following Uncle Ho's example starts with small things, such as saving time and being serious in meetings. Learning from Uncle Ho helps her become more patient and persistent in her work of disseminating information and mobilizing the people to implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.
Following the principle of persistent effort, Ms. Phuong, along with the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Block 1, regularly disseminated information, persuaded, and mobilized people affected by the Northwest Thanh Hoa project through various means.
This project has been underway for quite some time and has encountered many difficulties in compensation and land clearance (a project that applies two different mechanisms). To date, the majority of households in the project area have cooperated well, and this has been highly appreciated by the authorities.
Thanks to effective methods and proactive mobilization efforts by the Party Committee, the People's Committee of the neighborhood, the Fatherland Front, and other mass organizations, including the role of the Head of the Fatherland Front Committee of Neighborhood 1, Nguyen Thi Phuong, the neighborhood's annual performance in fulfilling assigned tasks has consistently met and exceeded targets.
The Party Committee of Block 1 has consistently performed its duties well for many years, and the Fatherland Front of the residential area has achieved outstanding performance for three consecutive years. In particular, in 2021, it received a commendation from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province for outstanding performance. Ms. Phuong is a Party member who has consistently achieved outstanding performance for many years…
“Learning from Uncle Ho starts with the simplest things, the smallest daily tasks; only then can we achieve great things. At all times and in all places, I am always responsible for my work, joining hands with the Party branch committee and the neighborhood people's committee to achieve many high accomplishments, aiming to further develop the Party branch, neighborhood, and ward in all aspects,” Ms. Phuong shared.
