27-year-old actress arrested for drug trafficking, family insists innocence

The arrest of Indian actress Chrisann Pereira by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities on drug trafficking charges is attracting public attention. Her family is doing everything they can to prove her innocence.

“We hired a lawyer in Dubai at a cost of Rs 1,300,000 (about VND 371 million). The family has not been able to eat or sleep for many days, everyone is worried about Chrisann,” Chrisann’s mother revealed.

Earlier, on April 17, Indian media reported that Chrisann Pereira was arrested at the airport for carrying drugs. She is being held at Sharjah Central Prison.

However, the family insists that the actress was “set up” and is not guilty. Her brother said that at the end of March, a man named Ravi contacted her mother and offered to let her audition for an international film.

However, when she checked her messages with Ravi, she was surprised to find that all of their messages had been deleted. When she contacted the hotel, Chrisann Pereira was told that there were no rooms booked under her name.
