Nui Thanh develops clean agriculture.

Agriculture in Nui Thanh district is developing in a clean direction to ensure sustainable development and increase income for the people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (Diem Pho village, Tam Anh Nam commune) has been investing in growing fruits and vegetables according to VietGAP standards for the past 3 years. On an area of ^2,000m² , she invested in a greenhouse to grow many types of fruits and vegetables.

According to Ms. Nga, the advantage of growing vegetables according to VietGAP standards is that the products are guaranteed to be of high quality, safe, and protect human health and the ecological environment. Economic efficiency is also increased compared to traditional methods. The product's market is stable, with traders present during harvest to purchase and transport it to the market. It is estimated that each plot of land (500m2) yields an income of over 50 million VND per year.

Green and clean vegetable and fruit farming is quite widespread in the communes of Tam Xuan 2, Tam Xuan 1, Tam Quang, Tam Giang… in Nui Thanh district. Having produced vegetables according to the VietGAP model for many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (Bich An village, Tam Xuan 1 commune) said that her family strictly adheres to the standards from soil preparation, seed selection, care, watering to harvesting and preservation.

No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in the production process. With an area of 2 sao (approximately 2,000 square meters) of spinach, lettuce, and watercress, her family earns an average income of over 60 million VND per year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Head of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development), believes that developing clean fruits and vegetables is a trend and an inevitable direction in the province.

In Nui Thanh district, there is a standardized, synchronized, and scientific organic fruit and vegetable production model invested in by Mr. Ung Duy Vu - Director of "Green Farm" Agricultural Production, Trade & Service Company Limited in Tam Xuan 1 commune.

Mr. Vu is growing organic vegetables and fruits in greenhouses covering an area of 2,000 ^square meters in Team 5 and a 2-hectare field in Team 7 (Bich Tan hamlet, Tam Xuan 1 commune). His products are certified organic and supplied to many businesses in Nui Thanh district and Tam Ky city.

According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Anh Nam commune, in order to develop sustainable vegetable farming, the local government has coordinated with relevant departments of the district to mobilize, train, and disseminate knowledge to help people produce vegetables according to VietGAP and organic standards.

Applying scientific and technological advancements to the production, care, harvesting, and preservation of clean vegetables, the commune's People's Committee has acted as a bridge to help people access preferential loans from the policy bank to expand production. "Clean vegetables and fruits in the area are being promoted and have wider markets. In the future, the commune will support cooperatives and businesses to link with farmers to form a sustainable supply chain and increase income," Mr. Dieu said.
