Water from river branches and canals began to rise in localities in the Dong Thap Muoi region (Tay Ninh).

Accordingly, water from river branches and canals began to rise in communes in the Dong Thap Muoi region such as Khanh Hung, Tan Hung, Vinh Hung, Moc Hoa and Tuyen Nhon, Hau Thanh, Nhon Hoa Lap,... The functional sector forecasts that the flood will rise even higher, combined with high tides, which can greatly affect flood control boxes in the Dong Thap Muoi region, the upper and middle regions of the Mekong Delta with low embankments.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province, roads in the Dong Thap Muoi region are often combined with dikes to facilitate people's travel and agricultural production. In recent years, the weather has been complex and unpredictable, combined with human impact, causing landslides, land subsidence and flooding to increase alarmingly.

Tay Ninh Province (Dong Thap Muoi area) currently has 33 flood control enclosures in August and September that are at risk of being unsafe, with a total area of more than 1,800 hectares of fruit trees affected. In particular, a large enclosure with an area of more than 4,000 hectares of rice is also in the area at risk of being affected when floods combine with high tides.

Authorities recommend that people closely monitor the development of floods and rains, proactively reinforce embankments in vulnerable sections, regularly check embankments, and prepare plans for pumping and draining water in case of prolonged heavy rains; harvest rice at the right time and do not sow in areas where safety is not guaranteed.

Mr. Vo Minh Thanh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province, said that the functional agencies of Tay Ninh province are strengthening inspection, supervision, and guidance for people to prevent and combat flooding and respond to the increasingly complicated situation of drought, saltwater intrusion, and riverbank erosion. At the same time, they are propagating to people to proactively use water sources for production and daily life during the dry season, and arranging a suitable schedule according to forecasts of water sources and weather...

Tay Ninh is also proposing and requesting the Central Government to support nearly 4,000 billion VND in funding to implement 11 anti-erosion embankment projects on rivers and canals in the area. At the same time, it is requesting the Central Government to consider and support funding to build a drought and saltwater intrusion prevention system on the Vam Co River and to build the Thanh An freshwater reservoir.
