Expedite the construction of the temporary road.
On the afternoon of July 29th, in an interview with a reporter from Giao Thong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Head of the Que Phong Road Traffic Management Unit, stated: "After two days of sunny weather and no further subsidence, the authorities have decided to allow passenger cars with 7 seats or fewer to pass through the landslide location at Chuoi slope, National Highway 16, at kilometer 264+700; located in Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district."
Passenger cars with 7 seats or fewer can travel over Chuoi Pass.
The movement of vehicles is being closely monitored by guards stationed at both ends of the landslide site.
According to Mr. Son, the district is currently coordinating with local authorities to set up checkpoints to guard both ends of the landslide site 24/7.
The purpose is to prohibit vehicles from passing through the landslide area to ensure the safety of the people.
Simultaneously, the unit also deployed personnel to monitor the landslide situation at this location and report to the competent higher authorities.
In addition, the unit has also begun constructing a temporary road towards the embankment where the landslide occurred.
However, in recent days, the weather in Que Phong has been characterized by intermittent rain; at the same time, the construction site for the temporary road has many large rocks, making construction very difficult.
"Despite facing numerous difficulties, the unit has been mobilizing a lot of machinery and equipment, determined to complete the temporary road by the end of this week so that other vehicles can temporarily use it," Mr. Son added.

Conduct geological and topographical surveys to find solutions to the problem.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Quoc Truong, Director of the Road Maintenance Management Board of the Nghe An Department of Transport, said: In parallel with constructing a temporary road, the department has also conducted geological and topographical surveys of the landslide area to develop a plan for handling the situation and report it to the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Road Administration.
“QL16 is a particularly important road in the mountainous border area of Northwest Nghe An province. After the landslide occurred on Chuoi slope, the local authorities received close attention and guidance from the leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Road Administration.”
"Addressing the landslide site is an urgent project, serving the essential transportation needs of the people as well as contributing to socio -economic development and ensuring national security and defense of the locality. Therefore, the locality hopes to continue receiving the attention and guidance of the ministry and the department," Mr. Truong shared.
As reported by Traffic Newspaper, on the evening of July 14th, heavy rain caused subsidence of the roadbed and surface at Chuoi slope (Km 264+700, National Highway 16, in Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district).
Immediately after the subsidence occurred, the Nghe An Department of Transport directed the Road Management Unit to fill in the subsided area and build a temporary road for people to travel on.
However, due to subsidence of more than 3 meters compared to the original ground level, the department decided to close the road to ensure the safety of the residents.
Upon receiving the information, the Vietnam Road Administration, along with bridge and road experts, inspected the site and conducted an initial assessment, while also proposing solutions to address the problem.
