The German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) announced the GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of the Association's founding and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.

The Oktoberfest festival originated in Munich (Germany) in 1810, to honor Bavarian culture, especially German beer. Over the past 2 centuries, Oktoberfest has become a global cultural festival, attracting millions of visitors each year.

In Vietnam, this festival has been held since 1992 under the sponsorship of the German Embassy and the German Consulate General.

In 2024, Oktoberfest was held for the first time in Da Nang and created a big buzz. Along with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the festival attracted more than 10,500 visitors, becoming one of the typical cultural events and a strong bridge of friendship between the two countries.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Gentzsch Andre Pierre, General Director of Furama Resort Danang , emphasized: "Over the past 30 years, Oktoberfest has become a cultural bridge, strengthening the strategic partnership between Germany and Vietnam. The festival brings German cultural experiences closer to the Vietnamese people, and is also an opportunity to connect the business community and international tourists in the Central region".

Mr. Peter Kompalla, Chief Representative of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) shared that GBA Oktoberfest is not only a festival, but also a lively stage where culture and business intersect, demonstrating trust, cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Germany.

The event is also a platform to promote cooperation in trade, investment, vocational training, innovation and sustainable development. The festival promises to bring the most exciting atmosphere of the year when it visits three major economic and cultural centers of Vietnam.

After half a century, Vietnam-Germany relations have developed comprehensively. Germany is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in Europe, while Vietnam is Germany's leading partner in Southeast Asia. In 2023, two-way trade turnover reached nearly 12 billion USD, three times higher than a decade ago. Germany is also a major investor with more than 470 valid projects, with a total registered capital of 2.76 billion USD, ranging from renewable energy, manufacturing industry to financial services.

Corporations such as Siemens, Bosch, Deutsche Bank have been present for many years, along with hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, Germany is also a major ODA donor to Vietnam, focusing on clean energy, vocational training, environment and sustainable development.

"The choice of Da Nang to host Oktoberfest shows the city's growing appeal in the eyes of German businesses. Da Nang has a central location, developed logistics infrastructure, and a young workforce, making it suitable for expanding investment, especially in the fields of digital technology, logistics, green energy, and education and training," said Mr. Peter Kompalla.
