According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), during a visit to the air force headquarters on November 30th, commemorating North Korean pilots' day, leader Kim Jong-un gave strategic operational instructions aimed at improving the military's combat readiness and operational capabilities.
"Leader Kim Jong-un highly appreciated the pilots' close combat readiness to carry out air combat missions without incident, regardless of adverse conditions," KCNA reported.
Last week, North Korea successfully launched its first spy satellite, which it claims is designed to monitor the military activities of the United States and South Korea.
The US and its allies strongly condemned the launch, accusing it of violating numerous UN Security Council resolutions. Pyongyang announced it would launch more satellites, calling it an act of self-defense.
South Korea partially suspended an inter-Korean military agreement in response to the satellite launch and increased surveillance along its fortified border with North Korea. Pyongyang responded by declaring it would deploy stronger armed forces and place new weapons along the border.
