Departing early in the morning, the flight carrying coach Kim Sang-sik and his team landed in Indonesia early this afternoon, July 14. Information from the coaching staff of the U22 Vietnam team said that all players are in stable health and physically fit for training.
After arriving in Indonesia, Coach Kim Sang-sik and his players were supported by the Organizing Committee to go to the hotel, check-in, eat and rest. According to the plan, at 6pm this afternoon, the U22 Vietnam team will have their first training session to prepare for the tournament.
At the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, the U22 Vietnam team is in Group B with U22 Laos and U23 Cambodia. According to the schedule, the team will meet U23 Laos on July 19 before playing the second match with U23 Cambodia on July 22. Thus, U22 Vietnam will have 4 days to train and adapt to the weather and climate conditions in Indonesia. Before the departure date, the Korean coach also shortened the list of the U22 Vietnam team to 23 players according to regulations.
The goal of U22 Vietnam is to successfully defend the championship after 2 consecutive years of winning. According to VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu, the U22 Vietnam team also includes players who are oriented to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand at the end of the year. This is therefore also an important practice session for the whole team to best prepare for the race at the regional conference. Mr. Tran Anh Tu was also assigned by VFF to monitor the training and competition process of the U22 Vietnam team in Indonesia.
