Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev said that "Moscow's enemies" are pushing the world towards World War III and a global catastrophe.
"A full-scale war is being waged against Russia. The United States and Europe are pumping our enemies with all kinds of lethal weapons. They are also encouraging terrorism in Russia's border regions, carrying out sabotage and political assassinations," Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on May 12.
Mr. Medvedev said that "Russia's enemies are really pushing the world to the brink of World War III and a global catastrophe, in which no side can win."

He also declared that Russia was conducting an operation in Ukraine to "protect sovereignty , territorial integrity and security of millions of people", criticizing the US for deploying more nuclear weapons to NATO countries near Russia. "The question is who is pushing the world closer to the apocalypse," Mr. Medvedev said.
The deputy head of Russia's Security Council also warned that the country will continue to use all legal tools to hold those behind the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion accountable. However, he also said that it would be difficult to do so in international courts.
Medvedev also warned of the possibility of World War III as Ukraine attempts to join NATO in October 2022. Earlier this year, he accused the US and its allies of almost igniting World War III by preparing to attack Russia, forcing it to act.
Mr Medvedev has frequently made tough statements aimed at the US and its European allies. He has also repeatedly stated that Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons if necessary.
