Commenting on the performance of the Indonesian U23 team at this tournament in Thailand, coach Shin Tae-yong said that the team has a few players who competed and won at the SEA Games 32, but also many who haven't had much playing time in the national league.

The South Korean strategist asserted that his team is not yet perfect, lacks tactical fluency, and still makes mistakes during matches, but the important thing is that they know how to improve and are progressing with each game.

Coach Shin also humbly remarked that it is the players who perform on the field, and he only sketches the overall picture. "We are preparing our best for the final against Vietnam U23, even though our squad is depleted by a wave of injuries. Indonesia U23 will try to adapt to the game to win this tournament," the Indonesian football strategist emphasized.

Coach Shin Tae-yong not only manages the national team but also coaches Indonesia's youth teams, from U17 to U23. However, at the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia, Shin did not directly lead the Indonesian U22 team to win the gold medal in men's football. Prior to that, Shin had only drawn or lost when facing his compatriot Park Hang-seo in the Southeast Asian tournament.

In their most recent encounter, the Indonesian U22 team, under the guidance of coach Indra Sjafri, defeated the Vietnamese U22 team in the semi-finals of the 32nd SEA Games, a tournament where they won the gold medal after a dramatic victory over the Thai U22 team in the final.

In the group stage of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, coach Shin Tae-yong's team suffered a comeback defeat against Malaysia and narrowly defeated Timor Leste. Indonesia's U23 team advanced to the semi-finals as the best-performing second-placed team in their group.

"The goal of the Indonesian U23 team is to win the tournament, and this is my first title as the coach of this team. Furthermore, we hope that the players will improve after participating in the tournament," added coach Shin Tae-yong.
