"Who can accuse anyone, in this case a former US president, even if he is not guilty?" former US President Donald Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social on March 24.
The former White House owner's comments appeared to be referring to Manhattan (New York) Prosecutor Alvin Bragg - who is pushing to investigate Mr. Trump on suspicion of using money to buy the silence of a porn star.
He warned that if he were prosecuted, this would have "terrible consequences" for the United States, possibly "death and destruction".
Previously, on March 18, Mr. Trump did not provide evidence but still said that he could be arrested on March 21 and called on protesters to "take back the country".
However, the grand jury in Mr. Trump's trial did not convene on March 22 as scheduled, causing a decision on indictment to be pushed back until next week.
Trump faces possible criminal charges over allegations that he paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair during his 2016 presidential campaign. He has repeatedly denied the allegations, saying prosecutor Alvin Bragg's investigation was politically motivated.
