OPPO is researching a triple-folding smartphone.

Recently, Oppo's Find series director, Zhou Yibao, shared renders of Oppo's triple-folding device. According to the renders, the device will have two hinge components, a nearly bezel-less main screen, and a back made of faux leather.

This device appears to be running a modified version of Oppo's ColorOS interface with large widgets and a taskbar.

Earlier this year, reports indicated that Oppo and Vivo intended to withdraw from the foldable smartphone market. Oppo subsequently denied those reports and assured that they planned to continue developing new foldable devices.

Recently, Tecno also introduced the Phantom Ultimate 2 – a concept device with a triple-folding display measuring over 10 inches diagonally. The company also claims this is the first foldable phone to use TDDI – a technology that places both the display driver and touch sensor on a single chip.

Reportedly, the device features an impressively thin and floating display, measuring only 11mm thick when folded thanks to a dual-hinge mechanism developed by Tecno. There are also reports that the company has developed the thinnest battery cover on any smartphone (0.25mm thick).

Currently, details about the hardware of this Oppo tri-folding smartphone remain a secret, and we will likely have to wait a while longer to learn more about this product.
