Mai Quang Tien, a young man born in 1995, residing in Long Hoa ward, Hoa Thanh town, has been involved in paper craft for a long time since he was in school. Thanks to his skillful hands, Quang Tien has created extremely unique handmade models from paper. Up to now, he has had more than 30 impressive works, making many people admire and admire his passion.
He said he was fascinated by the prominence and splendor of anime (Japanese animation) characters, game characters or unique, magical models. Therefore, Quang Tien did not hesitate to spend hours every day for many months to complete a favorite work.
Practicing paper model making since 8th grade, even though he started with simple models, he still encountered many failures, from problems with glue techniques or creating inaccurate shapes. From there, Quang Tien gradually accumulated experience and became more proficient in this subject. About 3 years ago, he started working professionally with elaborate and complex models.
For paper models, the difficulty varies depending on the genre. The more detailed the model is, the more vivid and unique it is, the more difficult and time-consuming it is to make. For landscape and house models, creating a solid and precise background is a basic factor when starting to make it. As for characters, it is necessary to create a shape for the head and body to look flexible and vivid, even having to polish the smallest details such as hair to make the work look realistic.

The difficulty in making paper models is the meticulousness that attracts Quang Tien, so that he can spend hours focusing completely on this work. Looking through his works, we can see the meticulousness in every small detail, closely following the model of the characters, when completed, it is no different from stepping out of a "virtual world ".
Quang Tien’s favorite and most laborious work is the character “Linh Loc Ngu Tien” in the online game “Onmyoji”. To complete this work, the young man had to spend 3 to 4 hours a day, for more than a month, diligently working with paper and glue.
The process of making a paper model is equally complicated and involves many steps. First, you need to have a 3D printed model of the work. These models are sold on websites or Facebook groups of the paper craft community. Many beautiful models cost up to several million VND.
