Petrolimex closes the Southwestern Regional Sports Festival to celebrate its 70th anniversary

On November 23, 2024, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrolimex / Group) closed the Sports Festival for Workers, Civil Servants and Employees (CNVC-LĐ) in the Southwest region. The event was held in Vinh Long city, part of a series of sports and competition activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Petrolimex's founding (January 12, 1956 - January 12, 2026).

With the participation of 500 talented athletes from 10 Petrolimex member units, the Petrolimex Southwest Region Employee Sports Festival has ended after 2 exciting days of competition. The intense matches took place in all 7 subjects: Football, Table Tennis, Tug of War, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton and Chinese Chess. The athletes gave the audience many beautiful shots, many thrilling moments, each score, each game, each goal were extremely dramatic.
In his closing speech, Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union - Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union, Head of the Subcommittee on Arts and Sports to celebrate 70 years of Petrolimex Nguyen Thanh Son highly appreciated the detailed, scientific and thoughtful work of Vinh Long Construction Company; the determination of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival, Petrolimex units in the Southwest region, especially the efforts and hard work of the athletes in training and competing to create a memorable Sports Festival together. The Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union requested that the units continue to have activities to take better care of the material and spiritual life of employees and workers, and continue to create conditions for the physical education and sports movement to develop further.
The Southwestern Regional Sports Festival is the second (after the South Central and Central Highlands Regional Sports Festival) in a series of events, sports festivals and competitions towards the 70th Anniversary of Petrolimex. The Organizing Committee hopes that the two consecutive successful sports festivals will create favorable momentum for the following sports festivals and continue to encourage and motivate all Petrolimex employees to strive to excellently complete their professional tasks and achieve many achievements to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Group's establishment.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union, Head of the Sports and Arts Subcommittee to celebrate the Group's 70th anniversary and Mr. Le Phu Quoi - Chairman of Vinh Long Construction Company, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival awarded the Chinese Chess prize to the athletes (First Prize went to the athlete of An Giang Construction Company) Mr. Pham Hoang Phuc - Director of Vinh Long Construction Company and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hien - Member of the Standing Committee of Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union, President of Construction Company Trade Union Region 1, Representative of the Organizing Committee of Hanoi Sports Festival awarded the prize for Table Tennis - Men's Singles (First Prize went to the athlete of Southwest Construction Company) Mr. Pham Van Thinh - Chairman and Director of Ben Tre Construction Company, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Trinh - Chairman and Director of Long An Construction Company and Mr. Diep Lam Duy Phuong - Chairman and Director of Ca Mau Construction Company awarded the Badminton prize - Male Doubles category from 1980 to present (First Prize went to the pair of athletes from An Giang Construction Company) Mr. Phan Thanh Tam - Chairman and Director of Tien Giang Construction Company, Mr. Hong Phong - Chairman and Director of An Giang Construction Company and Ms. Ha Kim Anh - Deputy Chief of Office of Vietnam National Petroleum Group awarded the Badminton prize - Mixed Doubles (First Prize went to the pair from Southwest Construction Company) Petrolimex Deputy General Director Nguyen Dinh Duong, Chairman of the Southwest Construction Company Vo Thai Son and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union, Deputy Head of the Arts and Sports Subcommittee, welcomed the 70th anniversary of the Xuan Chien Sugar Group, awarded the Tennis prize - Men's Doubles born before 1980 (First Prize for the pair of athletes from the Southwest Construction Company) Mr. Le Chi Nguyen - Chairman and Director of Tra Vinh Construction Company, Mr. Le Van Sau - General Director of Kien Giang Petroleum Company Limited and Mr. Pham Xuan Dong - Member of the Executive Committee in charge of Finance of Vietnam Petroleum Trade Union awarded the tennis prize - Men's Doubles category born from 1980 to present (First Prize went to the pair from Ca Mau Construction Company) Mr. Vo Thai Son - Chairman of Southwest Construction Company; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Trinh - Chairman and Director of Long An Construction Company; Mr. Le Chi Nguyen - Chairman and Director of Tra Vinh Construction Company and Mr. Le Van Sau - General Director of Kien Giang Petroleum Company Limited awarded the First Prize in Volleyball to Vinh Long Construction Company team.
