In the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, the Math and English exams were considered too difficult by candidates, with some even sharing their feelings of “shock” at these exams. Many teachers also commented on the exams with phrases such as “high level of differentiation”, “challenging for candidates”, “few high scores”, “hard to get perfect scores”, etc.
Receiving feedback on the high difficulty of the exam, on the afternoon of June 27, at the Press Conference organized by the Ministryof Education and Training after the end of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Ngoc Ha said: This year's exam has many new points. The structure and format of the exam have completely changed compared to last year. This new feature can cause confusion for candidates.
However, Deputy Director, also Head of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam Board Nguyen Ngoc Ha said that candidates who have prepared thoroughly during the learning and review process will meet the requirements of the exam better than other candidates.
Since the school year, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued the structure and format of the exam and announced the reference exam from February 2024, with the aim of helping students get familiar with the structure and format, to have a review orientation.
Regarding the difficulty of the exam, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha shared that the National Steering Committee had a thorough understanding before the exam preparation took place, with the guiding viewpoint that this year is the first year of innovation, so there will be no sudden changes in the status, including the difficulty of the exam.
"Before the exam council started working, the Ministry of Education and Training conducted a large-scale test in all three regions. The essence of the test was to assess the candidates' adaptability in order to adjust the difficulty of the test," Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha emphasized.
The data in the test testing work, score distribution, etc. have been thoroughly discussed in the test making groups and when making the test, it is also required to closely follow the published reference test.
"We have noted the feedback on the difficulty of the test and will review and evaluate it specifically when the marking process is completed," said Deputy Director Nguyen Ngoc Ha.
