On May 30, the Government delegation led by Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense , Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee 389, Deputy Head of Working Group 950, had a working session with An Giang province on the fight against, prevention and suppression of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
According to the report of the People's Committee of An Giang province, in the first 5 months of 2025, the direction and administration of the province was implemented drastically, synchronously and seriously, clearly demonstrating the central role of coordination and orientation of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, and recently the Provincial Working Group headed by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The assignment of tasks is carried out clearly and specifically, with a strict monitoring mechanism and flexible handling of problems arising in practice.
In the first 5 months of 2025, An Giang authorities detected and arrested 281 violations, a decrease of 337 cases (53.5%) compared to the same period last year. The total amount of money collected for the state budget was more than 4.6 billion VND. 15 criminal cases were prosecuted, a decrease of 2 cases compared to the same period last year.
In addition, coordination and information exchange in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud are not yet tight; the organization has not closely followed the situation; has not been able to fight and arrest gangs and leaders of smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods; the rate of unclaimed goods is high, accounting for 41.4%...
Concluding the working session, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong acknowledged and commended An Giang province for quickly and effectively implementing Directive 13/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister and the directive document of the National Steering Committee 389.
However, to achieve effectiveness in the coming time, An Giang province should soon issue a new directive on the prevention and combat of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the area, in order to mobilize the synchronous and drastic participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level.
Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong emphasized that in the coming time, An Giang needs to step up thematic inspection of essential goods, especially food, pharmaceuticals, health care products, pesticides, goods of foreign origin, goods on e-commerce and social networks.
In particular, do not miss any areas, do not check multiple times, do not overlap in one unit, and do not leave other areas loose.
"Wherever there is a risk or sign of violation, it must be inspected immediately and strictly handled; information technology must be enhanced in monitoring, tracking, detecting violations, and coordinating between forces," Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong said, adding that An Giang needs to innovate propaganda, dissemination and education of the law; raise awareness of the harms of smuggling and counterfeit goods production; and launch a movement for the entire population to participate in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights.
Previously, the working delegation inspected and surveyed the Tinh Bien international border gate , listened to reports from functional forces on the border line on inspection and control activities, especially the peak of the fight against, prevention and suppression of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods crimes since the beginning of the year.
