Discovered 2 rare plants in the Red Book in Son La

The Sop Cop Special-Use Protection Forest Management Board has just discovered the black bat flower (Tacca chantrieri) in the Sop Cop special-use forest in Huoi Mot commune, Song Ma district and the red poplar tree in Nam Lanh commune, Sop Cop district. These are rare plants in the Red Book, at the level of endangered (EN).

Black bat flower, also known as tiger beard, is a rare plant with unique morphology and high biological value. Black bat flower is a rare plant and is recognized for its medicinal potential in traditional medicine.

Red poplar trees, through initial survey and investigation, on an area of ​​50 hectares, 20 red poplar trees were discovered scattered in Nam Lanh commune, belonging to the Nam Lanh commune protective forest managed by the Sop Cop Special-use Protective Forest Management Board.

Currently, the Sop Cop Special-Use Protective Forest Management Board is continuing to coordinate with forestry experts to conduct further research and investigation on this tree species, from which to develop a plan for conservation and propagation.
