Accordingly, at around 2:00 p.m. on February 20, the working group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Lang Son Police in coordination with Van Quan District Police discovered a spot of more than 200 square meters with 3,800 opium plants growing on the border between Luong Nang Commune (Van Quan District) and Hung Vu Commune (Bac Son District).
These opium poppies are about 15-30cm tall. The opium poppy plantation is located deep in the forest, 3-4 hours walk from residential areas, surrounded by rocky mountains, rugged terrain, and no trails.

The working group drew up a record, uprooted and destroyed all the opium plants.
Also through patrolling and ensuring security and order in the area, on the afternoon of February 22, Tan Thanh Commune Police, Bac Son District (Lang Son) conducted an inspection and discovered in the garden of Ms. LTB (60 years old, residing in Tan Thanh Commune) growing 182 opium plants, 10-20cm high.
Ms. LTB confessed that the opium plants were grown for the purpose of making poultry feed.
Immediately after discovery, Tan Thanh Commune Police conducted an inventory, uprooted, and seized all of the above opium plants, and at the same time made a record to handle Ms. LTB's violation according to the law.
