On July 18, the General Department of Market Management (GDM) announced that the GDM force of Hau Giang province had just inspected, discovered and seized nearly 80,000 textbooks of all kinds from grades 1 to 12 with signs of counterfeiting product labels and packaging of the Vietnam Education Publishing House.

This is the largest case of inspection and handling of violations related to textbooks ever in Hau Giang province.

Specifically, after a long period of monitoring and supervising the location of gathering, storing, and trading textbooks without house numbers or signs, hidden deep in a deserted residential area on Road No. 1, Tay Do EcoPark residential area, Tan Phu Thanh commune, Chau Thanh A district, on July 16, Market Management Team No. 1 coordinated with the Economic - Environmental Police Department of the Provincial Police, the Vietnam Education Publishing House in Can Tho, and local authorities to inspect the location of gathering, storing, and trading textbooks above.

The results recorded at the time of inspection showed that business activities at this location for gathering, storing and trading textbooks were operating normally. The owner of the facility was identified as Mr. Ng.PL, residing in Thoi Tan B, Truong Thang Commune, Thoi Lai District, Can Tho City.

Here, the inspection team noted that Mr. L's facility stored goods, including textbooks, with signs of counterfeiting labels and packaging of the Vietnam Education Publishing House.

Working with the Inspection Team, Mr. L. could not provide the Business Registration Certificate. Mr. L. also could not provide invoices or documents related to the goods.

The total number of textbooks at Mr. L's facility is 1,210 boxes. To ensure the time and progress of the inspection, the Market Management Department of Hau Giang province mobilized all civil servants of the departments and teams of the Market Management Department of Hau Giang province and the Vietnam Education Publishing House in Can Tho to coordinate and support in sealing, temporarily holding and transporting them to the Department's specialized warehouse to conduct inventory and classify the quantity and types.

By the afternoon of July 18, after 2 days of checking and classifying quantity and types, the Inspection Team recorded 79,103 textbooks of all kinds from grades 01 to 12 with signs of counterfeiting product labels and packaging of the Vietnam Education Publishing House. The total value of the goods calculated according to the price listed on the textbooks was 1.3 billion VND.

The case is under further review and processing in accordance with the law.
