Harnessing the energy of young people in establishing themselves and their careers.

Over the past period, activities supporting young people in starting and developing businesses have been widely implemented by youth union branches at all levels in the province, yielding practical results. Through this movement, many youth union members have been able to utilize their youthful energy, dynamism, and creativity in labor and production to start businesses and legitimately become wealthy in their homeland.

Having worked various jobs to make a living but with rather unstable income, in 2018, Mr. Do Sy Tri, from Luong Tai Xa village, Trieu Dai commune, Trieu Phong district, decided to return to his hometown to develop a model for cultivating grey oyster mushrooms. In the early stages of implementing the model, like many other young people venturing into the profession, Mr. Tri encountered many obstacles.

But refusing to "give up," with the support of the Youth Union of Trieu Dai commune and his own determination, Tri spent his days researching online, studying books, and traveling far and wide to learn from practical experiences about mushroom cultivation models.

“I learned mushroom cultivation techniques at the Cam Lo Mushroom Research and Development Station; and with financial support for building a mushroom growing house and support for mushroom spawn prices, I boldly bought 1,000 grey oyster mushroom spawn bags to grow in my family's 35 m2 shed and was quite successful as the mushrooms grew well and the output was stable.”

Recognizing the economic benefits of the model, I boldly borrowed over 100 million VND from the Social Policy Bank of Trieu Phong district to expand the mushroom cultivation area, install an automatic irrigation system, and purchase more mushroom spawn to develop the production model.”

To save time and effort, Mr. Tri also researched and applied science and technology to practice by personally installing an automatic mist irrigation system, setting timers and conditions using his smartphone for convenient monitoring and care of the mushrooms. Thanks to this, the grey oyster mushrooms yield a continuous harvest for about 4 months, with an average selling price of around 40,000 VND/kg. On average, after deducting expenses, Mr. Tri earns nearly 100 million VND in profit each year, making his family's life less difficult and no longer dependent on rice cultivation as before.

As for Mr. Nguyen Manh Tu, from Kim Giao village, Hai Duong commune, Hai Lang district, in 2022, through the Hai Duong commune Youth Union, he accessed a preferential loan of 100 million VND from the Hai Lang District Social Policy Bank to start his business making rice noodles. Always prioritizing product quality, Mr. Tu's rice noodles were immediately popular with the local people upon their market launch.

Initially, his focus wasn't on economic gain but primarily on building a brand and market, while simultaneously gaining experience. After more than three years of production, the name "Tu Bun" is now known not only to the people of Kim Giao but also to restaurants and eateries in neighboring villages and communes who come to order his products.

Anh Tú excitedly shared: “After deducting expenses, my noodle production facility brings me a profit of about 15 million VND per month. This is a relatively stable source of income for my family in addition to farming. I hope to have access to more preferential credit sources in the future to expand production, invest in more machinery, and build a brand for my noodle products.”

Over the past period, activities supporting young people in starting and developing businesses have been a focus of youth union organizations at all levels. Accordingly, in 2024 alone, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee coordinated with the Provincial Social Policy Bank to provide preferential loans to 250 youth startup and business development models and projects totaling 24 billion VND. This increased the total outstanding loan balance of the Social Policy Bank through youth union organizations to 686.532 billion VND as of December 31, 2024, representing a 19.7% growth in outstanding loans.

To date, the province has 86 economic development clubs and 510 youth-led economic models generating over 100 million VND per year. Furthermore, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Provincial Youth Union Secretariat organized an online talk show titled "Career Opportunities and Employment for Youth" via Zoom and live-streamed on the "Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union" fanpage. They also organized a program to promote and connect the consumption of youth-started products and OCOP products on the TikTok platform, with the participation of guest KOL - Runner-up Hoang Kim Chi - Miss Earth Vietnam 2023...

Also in 2024, youth union branches at all levels organized 150 career guidance activities and 52 job counseling and placement activities for nearly 12,300 youth union members and demobilized soldiers, including introducing new jobs to over 5,600 youth union members; continued to effectively operate the Quang Tri province youth entrepreneurship network with more than 2,000 young people participating; and directed school youth unions and junior high school student unions in the province to establish and effectively maintain 123 career guidance and entrepreneurship clubs for students.

The path to entrepreneurship for young people has never been easy. However, with enthusiasm and creativity, the youth of Quang Tri are not afraid of hardship and are determined to find their own path. Above all, they always receive the companionship and support of the Youth Union. This is an important stepping stone that helps each young person become more confident, constantly seeking and learning to become increasingly stable and successful on their entrepreneurial journey, thereby contributing their youthful energy to building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland.
