Nam Dai Duong Youth Cooperative (Nghia Hung) cooperates to implement a model of applying no-till rice cultivation technology and on-site nutrient circulation in Vu Ban district. |
In April 2025, Minh Tan Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Vu Ban) was one of 100 typical cooperatives nationwide to be honored with the "Cooperative Star - Coop Star Awards 2025" award. The cooperative currently has 2,812 members, with a total annual rice production area of 843 hectares. After land consolidation, the cooperative has planned over 100 hectares of aquaculture land, family farm land and over 80 hectares of land specializing in rice seed production. The cooperative regularly innovates management, production organization, consolidates essential service activities and agreed services to serve production, and improve members' lives. Every year, the cooperative supplies 80-100 tons of materials, fertilizers, and pesticides worth 1.2-1.5 billion VND under the motto of the best quality, prices equal to and lower than the market at that time. The cooperative also provides preferential loans to member households from internal credit services to develop production. By December 31, 2024, the loan turnover reached VND 2,566 billion. Thanks to the focus on shifting the crop structure, the cooperative has gradually formed areas specializing in producing purebred rice varieties with high economic value, demonstration areas for hybrid rice varieties and purebred rice with high yield and quality in Chieu and Ha villages. The cooperative also propagates and mobilizes farmers to promote their advantages, improve fields, build models of applying scientific and technical advances; proactively contact functional agencies, sign contracts with seed companies in and outside the province to test and demonstrate new rice varieties, produce purebred rice varieties with high quality and yield to increase income for member households, while developing the cooperative economy, contributing to building new rural areas. The cooperative signed contracts with over 200 member households with a scale of 70-90 hectares of rice seeds/year, the amount of rice seeds sold to companies is from 200-300 tons, bringing profits to member households from 500-600 million VND.
To promote production and business linkage models according to product value chains, every year, the Provincial Cooperative Union coordinates to organize for cooperatives to participate in conferences and seminars between enterprises and cooperatives inside and outside the province. Through that, many cooperatives have signed joint venture contracts, production linkages and product consumption contracts with enterprises, building value chains. The Provincial Cooperative Union also organizes delegations of cooperative officials to study models in other provinces; at the same time, it welcomes dozens of delegations from other provinces to study, exchange and sign effective chain linkage cooperation programs. Through study tours and experience exchanges, units have more information, expanded markets, joint ventures and linkages to develop sustainable production and business. In particular, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance has directly supported Nam Dinh province to successfully build many production models associated with key product value chains such as: Toan Thang Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Hai Hau) with the value chain model of specialty rice "Tam xoan bao tu"; Xuan Hoa Aquaculture Production and Service Cooperative (Xuan Truong) building a value chain of catfish; Xuan Tien Agricultural and Mechanical Service Cooperative (Xuan Truong) with a value chain model for rice paper and rice noodles, developing traditional craft village products of Kien Lao. In 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Alliance will continue to sign a cooperation agreement with the Netherlands Development Organization Agriterra to advise and support the improvement of management capacity for staff to build new cooperative models associated with building effective value chains for 3 cooperatives in districts of Y Yen, Nam Truc and Nghia Hung in the period of 2023-2026. Up to now, the whole province has 1 cooperative and 1 enterprise of the province as the focal point for connecting production with the value chain of processing and consuming rice with over 30 agricultural cooperatives in the area. 63 cooperatives have built a chain linking production and consumption of products with enterprises. Typically: Dinh Moc circular agricultural economic cooperative (Giao Thuy) with a chain of clean vegetables and fruits, with 14 products achieving 3-star OCOP. Nghia Binh agricultural production and service cooperative (Nghia Hung) with a chain of production, processing and consumption of traditional high-quality rice. Van Xuan Truong Veterans Cooperative (Vu Ban) with an organic herbal rice model. Bon Thuan Cooperative (Vu Ban) links the purchase, processing and consumption of rice, and at the same time plays a key role in the production and consumption chain of Khanh Hung Cooperative Union. Yen Loi livestock cooperative (Y Yen) with the Nam Son clean pork chain. Nam Cuong Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Y Yen) produces key products associated with the value chain, linking production and consumption of clean and safe vegetables and fruits according to VietGAP, processing straw and producing and consuming organic microbial fertilizers according to Japanese technology. Hai Dien Aquatic Products Cooperative (Hai Hau) with a seafood processing chain. Linh Phat Cooperative (Hai Hau), Tuan Hiep Mushroom and Handicraft Cooperative (Giao Thuy) link production, processing and consumption of various types of mushroom products... Models of linking production and consumption of agricultural products help increase productivity and quality of crops and livestock, increase product value and gradually increase farmers' income. In fact, when participating in the value chain, production and business costs of cooperatives are reduced by 5-8%, members' income increases by 20-25%, bringing many benefits to members and cooperatives.
Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, cooperatives will continue to focus on linking with enterprises and household economies to form and develop value chains of agricultural, forestry and fishery products from production, processing to consumption; strive to build 2-3 new value chains of key commodities each year. Thereby contributing to the development of agriculture in the direction of improving productivity, quality, efficiency and sustainability.
