Located within the cultural space of the Central Highlands, each ethnic group in Dak Lak has its own cultural identity. Therefore, Dak Lak province has a diverse and rich culture of customs and traditions from various regions. Among them, the indigenous ethnic minorities have distinct cultural characteristics, such as: oral epic poems (Dam San, Xing Nha, Dam Di), spoken language, written script of the Ede people, the M'nong people, etc.
Therefore, in the report "Results of the National Target Program for socio -economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021 - 2025; proposed content and solutions for the period 2026 - 2030", one of the projects that the former Dak Lak province is interested in is the preservation and promotion of the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development.
Specifically, the allocated budget for implementation was 71,482 million VND (64,232 million VND from the central budget; 7,250 million VND from the provincial budget); 43,057 million VND has been disbursed, reaching 60.2% of the plan (39,221 million VND from the central budget; 3,836 million VND from the provincial budget).

Developing the cultural values of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development helps improve the lives of the people.
During the period from 2021 to 2024, Dak Lak province (formerly) implemented 329 activities/322 activities as assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including: Completion, acceptance and commissioning of the Project to support investment in building typical tourist destinations in Ea Kao ward (formerly Ea Kao commune) - Buon Ma Thuot city, Buon Jun - Lien Son town - Lak district; the Project to renovate, upgrade, expand and build new cultural houses and sports fields for some villages and hamlets in some districts and Buon Ho town is currently preparing documents for implementation according to regulations;...

Ede ethnic group's culture in cuisine
It can be said that, over the years, Dak Lak province has focused on supporting the preservation of cultural villages, historical relics, cultural identity, and traditional arts, creating conditions for local communities to participate in community tourism activities, aiming to improve the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities. From there, it has gradually changed the awareness and understanding of all levels of the population regarding the preservation and promotion of the valuable traditional cultural values of ethnic groups.
However, during the project implementation, the province still faced some difficulties and challenges in purchasing costumes, props, musical instruments; and sound and lighting equipment to meet the minimum needs for training and performances, with some specific requirements depending on each locality (according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), thus limiting the implementation process. Some localities lacked sufficient human resources to conduct scientific research on projects related to intangible cultural heritage and traditional culture of ethnic minorities, especially research on the restoration, preservation, and promotion of cultural values.
To overcome limitations and build upon achievements, in 2025, Dak Lak province aims to continue supporting community-based economic development throughout the province, diversifying tourism products to serve both domestic and international tourists. Simultaneously, the province aims for tourism to become a key economic sector by 2030, developing sustainably and commensurate with the potential and advantages of the central region of the Central Highlands.
