Vice President of Nepal welcomes Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
On the morning of August 24, in the capital Kathmandu, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan held talks.
According to a VNA reporter accompanying the delegation, at the talks, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav welcomed Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on her official visit to Nepal, affirming that the Nepalese Government highly appreciated and attached special importance to this visit, the highest-level visit of Vietnam to Nepal since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav warmly congratulated the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and sent congratulations to the leaders and people of Vietnam on their achievements in socio -economic development; emphasizing that in just a short time since implementing the Doi Moi process, Vietnam has achieved miraculous development, becoming a model for other countries to learn from, including Nepal.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan thanked the Vice President and the Nepalese side for their warm, respectful, and friendly reception; affirmed that the Vietnamese leaders and she personally attached great importance to the visit, especially at a historic moment when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations; and wished to further consolidate and develop the traditional friendship between the two countries. The Vice President congratulated the Government and people of Nepal on their achievements in economic development, poverty reduction, and improving people's living standards; expressed her belief that with the determination and leadership of the current Government, Nepal will successfully achieve the goal of becoming a middle-income country by 2030.
In a sincere and friendly atmosphere, the two leaders shared the situation and development goals of each country, and proposed major directions to promote bilateral relations in many fields. The two sides agreed that Vietnam and Nepal are both standing at the threshold of a new development stage, with Vietnam accelerating the implementation of strategic breakthroughs to bring the country into a new era, aiming to become a developed, high-income country by 2045, while Nepal aims to become a middle-income country by 2030. On that basis, the two countries need to further strengthen exchanges, experience sharing, mutual support and assistance to achieve the set goals.

To enhance political trust and tighten diplomatic relations, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav agreed to further increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels; promote exchanges between agencies and organizations of the two sides. The two sides agreed to promote the potential and advantages of each country to further expand economic, trade and investment cooperation; consider the possibility of negotiating bilateral trade and investment agreements; and establish a Joint Working Group or Joint Committee to discuss measures to enhance economic cooperation; promote trade and investment promotion activities, and support businesses of the two countries to connect. The Vice President suggested that Nepal pay attention to supporting Vietnamese businesses to study investment opportunities in the fields of infrastructure development, energy, digital transformation, etc. in Nepal.
Highlighting the similarities in history, culture, Buddhist values and many beautiful natural landscapes... that can complement each other in promoting tourism, the two leaders agreed to assign relevant agencies of the two sides to review and promote the signing of cooperation frameworks in the fields of tourism, culture, education, aviation cooperation, strengthening the connection of Buddhist centers, building pilgrimage and Buddhist tourism routes. The two sides also agreed to continue to coordinate in organizing practical activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025 and promote the role of the Vietnam - Nepal Friendship Association as well as the Nepal Peace, Friendship and Solidarity Committee in implementing these activities.

The two leaders agreed that it is necessary to continue to closely coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums, especially at the United Nations (UN) and the Non-Aligned Movement. Vietnam welcomes and is ready to act as a bridge for Nepal to strengthen cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and proposed that Nepal act as a bridge to help Vietnam strengthen relations with South Asian countries. The two leaders said that it is necessary to closely coordinate and participate in global efforts to respond to climate change, implement the commitment to the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, as well as participate in UN peacekeeping operations.
On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan respectfully invited Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav to visit Vietnam at a convenient time. Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav happily accepted the invitation.
* Previously, on the afternoon of August 23, the Vice President received Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba and Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal Rajesh Kazi Shrestha.

At the reception for Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the two countries' Foreign Ministries, on the basis of good political relations and existing potentials, actively coordinate to develop specific programs and plans, promote the signing of new documents and agreements to create a favorable framework for bilateral cooperation, and bring cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchange into reality and effectiveness. Welcoming the two countries' Foreign Ministries' establishment of the Deputy Ministerial-level Political Consultation mechanism, the Vice President suggested that the first meeting of this mechanism be held in Vietnam in 2026.
At the reception for Honorary Consul Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated his contributions to promoting Vietnam-Nepal relations, especially economic, trade and investment relations. The Vice President suggested that the Honorary Consul continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in India and Nepal and relevant agencies of both sides to effectively implement the high-level leadership agreement, become an effective bridge in economic, trade and investment cooperation, disseminate the policies and laws of the two countries to the business community, as well as do a good job of protecting the legitimate interests of Vietnamese people and businesses in Nepal.
