(HNMO) - On the evening of April 25, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Ministry of Construction , and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association of Architects (1948-2023) and award the National Architecture Award 2022-2023.
Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh; Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations. On the Hanoi side, there was Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan.
The predecessor was the Vietnam Association of Architects, established in 1948. Up to now, the Vietnam Association of Architects has grown in both quantity and quality, with nearly 7,000 members out of more than 20,000 architects nationwide.
The Vietnam Association of Architects is always aware of the pioneering role of architecture in the cause of sustainable national development, affirming its position in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Generations of Vietnamese architects have devoted much effort and intelligence, promoted creativity, overcome all difficulties, and contributed to the development of the country in general and of modern Vietnamese architecture, imbued with national identity.
Reading the commemorative speech, Dr. Architect Phan Dang Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects, affirmed that, together with the country, the Vietnam Association of Architects has gone through a heroic journey of three-quarters of a century, contributing to the development of a country with strong cultural identity, civilization, modernity, and sustainable integration.
The Vietnam Association of Architects and the entire profession will concentrate their forces and actions towards the goal of contributing to the sustainable and substantial development of the urban system with green - unique - modern architecture; taking strong and decisive action to contribute promptly and properly to rural planning and architecture; making the community - government - investors - people truly understand and interact; architects raise their level in creativity, innovation, competition, integration...
Speaking on behalf of the Party and State leaders at the ceremony, Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that the Vietnam Association of Architects has achieved over the past 75 years in the cause of national construction and development.
To continue building an advanced Vietnamese architecture, imbued with national identity, highly adaptable, and in line with world trends, comrade Tran Tuan Anh expressed his belief and hope that the Vietnam Association of Architects in particular and the Vietnamese architect community in general will continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws in the field of architecture, so that architecture truly takes the people as the main subject. Architecture must respond to vivid reality, be suitable for regional and ethnic economic conditions, enrich national culture; focus on innovation; enhance the social responsibility of architects in their profession; resolutely eliminate hybrid architecture; preserve, inherit, and promote the cultural values of traditional architecture and new valuable architecture; actively provide social criticism in architecture and planning; focus on developing members, pay attention to young architects; proactively participate and integrate with world architectural trends...
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee summarized and awarded the 15th National Architecture Award (2022-2023). This year's award received 226 entries - the largest number in the organization. The works have progressed in both quantity and quality, diverse in content and rich in expression, reflecting the development level of Vietnamese architecture in the current period.
As a result, there were 5 Gold awards, 18 Silver awards, 34 Bronze awards and 1 award for the work most loved and voted by the community.
Of which, 5 Gold prizes belong to the following works: Viettel Group Headquarters (public architecture) - author Gensler; German House in Ho Chi Minh City (public architecture) - group of architects Meihard von Gerkan, Nikolaus Goetze, Volkmar Sievers; Bat Trang Ceramic Center (public architecture) - group of architects Hoang Thuc Hao, Nguyen Duy Thanh, Do Quang Minh; Landscape design of Flamingo Dai Lai Resort (landscape architecture - urban design) - group of architects Nguyen Thuong Quan, Bui Thi Bich Dao, Le Van Hoang, Nguyen Thi Phuong Yen; General planning of Soc Trang city to 2035, vision to 2050 (urban planning) - architect Cao Thanh Nghiep and associates.
