Viettel Post Son La Branch (Viettel Post Son La) currently has 14 post offices, 14 stores and 190 professional staff. The unit provides a variety of services such as domestic express, express, and economy delivery; international delivery; logistics services (warehouse rental, transportation); e-commerce and telecommunications services.
Currently, the province has 856 enterprises, cooperatives and transport business households, mostly small-scale, owning only 1-2 vehicles; 10 units have from 10-35 vehicles. There are 6 postal and delivery units operating: VNPost, Viettel Post, J&T Express, Fast Delivery, Economical Delivery and Nhat Tin. Goods are also sent via passenger cars connecting to 23 provinces and cities in the North and North Central regions. Since the beginning of the year, the province has transported over 4.2 million tons of goods, up 12.02%; goods turnover increased by 12.76%; revenue reached over 1,683 billion VND, up 12.84% over the same period last year.
The inner-city delivery service was born to meet the demand for same-day delivery, especially for restaurants and consumer businesses. Mr. Tran Thanh Binh (To Hieu ward) said: "Now, I just need to sit at home and surf Facebook, Zalo to be able to order. I can check the product before receiving it, if I am not satisfied, I can return it, reducing the worry of being cheated when buying online". The inner-city delivery fee is about 10,000 VND/order, COD orders are from 25,000 - 50,000 VND, depending on weight and distance.
Son La province's logistics infrastructure is gradually taking shape, with increasingly complete transportation, warehouse and information infrastructure systems, effectively supporting the preservation and transportation of goods. From 2021 to present, Son La province has completed the investment in upgrading the Long Sap - Pa Hang international border gate pair, and at the same time started the construction of the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway (section through Son La province), contributing significantly to the completion of the transport infrastructure network, strongly promoting trade, strengthening inter-regional connectivity and socio-economic development. At the same time, more than 28 billion VND has been supported to develop infrastructure to serve the logistics supply chain, including 6 cold storages, 12 cold containers, 660 steam dryers and 3 agricultural processing lines.
Up to now, the province has 34 industrial-scale processing facilities and about 1,000 small-scale production facilities, specializing in producing typical products such as plums, dried fruits from Moc Chau; dried bananas from Yen Chau; dried macadamia, longan from Mai Son, Song Ma; vermicelli, coffee, seafood... However, the province's logistics infrastructure still has certain limitations and is not really professional because most of the production facilities are cooperatives operating in a manual manner, self-producing and packaging.
Mr. Le Dinh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: To achieve the goal by 2030, achieving total retail sales and consumer service revenue growth of 9.5-10.5%/year, export turnover of 400 million USD, e-commerce revenue accounting for 5-7%. Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade is advising the province on planning for logistics infrastructure development related to warehouses and human resources. Planning 2 logistics centers in Moc Chau, Mai Son and warehouse clusters at gateways, districts, and towns; focusing on completing infrastructure, technology and human resources to develop diverse services and logistics.
With the goal of building a modern, professional logistics ecosystem, creating momentum for sustainable economic growth and increasing the value of agricultural products, Son La province will continue to encourage investment in agricultural wholesale markets associated with preliminary processing and centralized processing. At the same time, the province will research and support the construction of a pilot model of a comprehensive cold supply chain, from production to consumption and export. Enterprises and cooperatives need to promote product quality improvement, shift production thinking according to standards and market orders, thereby increasing the value of agricultural products and creating sustainable output for farmers.
