The 2024 Lifelong Learning Week runs from now until October 7th.

The opening ceremony and launch are part of a series of activities in response to the directives of the Ministry of Education and Training and the plan of the Hanoi People's Committee on organizing the 2024 Lifelong Learning Week, with the goal of promoting lifelong learning awareness, encouraging all segments of the population to participate in the reading movement, thereby contributing to raising intellectual standards, developing human resources, and training talents for the Capital city.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong affirmed: In recent years, Hanoi has actively implemented the directives, resolutions, and policies of the Party and the State into action plans and programs, especially those tasks aimed at building a learning society. Resolution No. 23-NQ/TU dated November 16, 2023, of the Hanoi City Party Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership over the work of promoting learning and talent, and building a learning society in Hanoi from now until 2030, with a vision to 2045, and Plan No. 52/KH-UBND dated February 7, 2024, of the Hanoi City People's Committee on implementing Resolution No. 23-NQ/TU, have set the goal of Hanoi registering to become a member of UNESCO's "Global Learning Cities" network by 2025.

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training called on all levels of leadership, organizations, and the entire society to join hands in building a stronger reading culture, promoting lifelong learning, contributing to raising the intellectual level of the people, training human resources, and developing talents for the country and for the capital city to become increasingly prosperous and sustainably developed.
Representatives of UNESCO in Vietnam also emphasized the importance of lifelong learning in the digital transformation era, while acknowledging Hanoi's efforts in implementing educational promotion plans. The People's Committee of Ba Dinh District, the co-hosting unit for the event, pledged to continue promoting the movement for education and talent development in the locality, contributing to building a solid educational foundation for the future.
At the ceremony, the Vietnam Education Publishing House donated a bookshelf with over 300 books to Giang Vo Secondary School; and also presented 20 gifts (cash and books) to 20 outstanding students.
Activities within the program, such as book introductions and exhibitions, have attracted significant interest from students, teachers, and related organizations, contributing to the spread of lifelong learning spirit, promoting reading culture, and creating momentum for further progress in building Hanoi into a global learning city.
