The Mitidja plain in the Blida province of Algeria has a climate and soil very suitable for citrus trees, especially oranges.
Therefore, the local authorities have taken the initiative to plant orange trees right on the sidewalks of many streets and public places, to both create unique green spaces and showcase the province's strong agricultural product.
Prioritizing the cultivation of oranges, a citrus fruit well-suited to the local climate and soil, also yields high economic value. From Blida, these sweet and slightly tart oranges with a refreshing aroma are transported to regions throughout Algeria.
The initiative to plant orange trees in many public places has been enthusiastically received by local residents. This is also part of a larger tree-planting campaign initiated by the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, aiming to plant millions of trees nationwide to improve the environment, combat climate change, and beautify urban landscapes.
