(NLĐO) - According to the plan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province was scheduled to start construction on two social housing projects in 2024. However, both projects are behind schedule.
This is the content that Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Nguyen Cong Vinh, explained at the 24th session of the Provincial People's Council regarding the rectification of the slow implementation of social housing development according to the national, government , and provincial People's Council approved projects, programs, and plans.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh stated that in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee committed to commencing two social housing projects in Vung Tau City: one in Ward 10 with a scale of 4.7 hectares and another in Ward 12 with a scale of 5.7 hectares. However, in reality, neither project has received investment approval. Regarding this matter, the Vice Chairman of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Cong Vinh, has taken responsibility before the voters and representatives of the Provincial People's Council.
The first social housing project in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has been operational for over 10 years.
According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, on December 5th, the Provincial People's Committee submitted a list of land-use projects, including social housing projects in Vung Tau City. This list was also reviewed and approved by the Economic and Budget Committee of the Provincial People's Council at this session of the Provincial People's Council.
This is an important legal condition for the People's Committee of Vung Tau City to submit the application for approval of the investment policy for the project after the People's Council Resolution is issued. The Provincial People's Committee will focus on directing Vung Tau City to submit the application for provincial approval, which will serve as the basis for the People's Committee of Vung Tau City to organize the selection of investors in accordance with the law.
The Provincial People's Committee has also directed the Vung Tau City People's Committee to develop a plan for implementing each task, organize regular meetings, monitor and evaluate the project's progress periodically to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles.
"Lessons learned show that when implementing any project, it is necessary to determine the current situation and required conditions before developing a project implementation plan to ensure it aligns with reality. Clearly identify the lead agency, coordinating agencies, etc., and above all, regularly check the responsibility of agencies and units in carrying out their duties, avoiding situations where documents are circulated endlessly, wasting time without effectiveness. Each task must be completed before moving on to the next," Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh emphasized.
According to the plan approved by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on the development of social housing in the area for the period 2023 - 2025, the goal is to implement 17 social housing projects, covering an area of 54.3 hectares, with an estimated 12,798 units. However, many projects are currently behind schedule.
