On May 23rd, Phan Van Anh, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, visited and presented gifts to union members and workers on the Bac Giang - Dong Dang railway line. Joining the delegation were Hoang Nang Khang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation; Nguyen Thanh Hoan, Vice President of the Vietnam Railways Trade Union; and leaders from professional and trade union branches of railway units in the region. The Vietnam Railways Trade Union is implementing the Workers' Month program at the grassroots level, under the direction of the Party Committee, professional departments, and trade unions, on a large scale and lasting until the end of the Vietnam Trade Union Founding Day (July 28, 2024).

According to Nguyen Thanh Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, the basic protection of workers' rights is ensured, this is a tradition of the industry, and workers' suggestions are always thoroughly addressed.
Currently, 100% of disadvantaged railway workers receive attention and care from trade unions at all levels. During the 2024 Workers' Month, the Vietnam Railway Corporation and the Vietnam Railway Trade Union alone spent over 3.5 billion VND to care for workers. At workers' dormitories, trade unions and management have equipped them with televisions, refrigerators, and water filters for workers to use after work.
On behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President Phan Van Anh extended best wishes for good health to all railway workers so that they can perform their duties well and fulfill their assigned tasks. The Vice President also acknowledged and highly appreciated the work of caring for the lives of union members and workers in the Vietnam Railway sector.
Vice Chairman Phan Van Anh stated that 2024 is the year the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor implements the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union and celebrates the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024). The 2024 Workers' Month is a month of solidarity, focusing on specific tasks such as strengthening dialogue to listen to the voices of workers and businesses regarding wages, bonuses, and membership development.
Vice Chairman Phan Van Anh also requested that unit leaders create even better conditions for caring for the lives of workers, building harmonious labor relations so that workers can feel secure in their work, consider the unit as their second home, and continue to care for the lives of workers; in order to motivate and encourage union members and workers to work together with the enterprise to successfully complete assigned tasks, improve productivity, quality and efficiency so that the rights of workers are increasingly better.
On the same day, Vice Chairman Phan Van Anh visited and presented gifts to workers at the Bac Thuy railway station in Chi Lang district, Lang Son province. This is a railway station on the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line with difficult mountain passes.
According to Mr. Dong Tien Dung, Head of Bac Thuy Railway Station, working conditions there are currently very difficult. Every day, workers have to patrol trains and guard tunnels from km114+500 to km128+900 (nearly 20km) with steep slopes and high bridges, and most of the work is done on foot.
According to Mr. Dung, although the living standards of the workers have improved, due to the complex geographical and terrain conditions, there is a lack of clean water for daily use during the dry season, and landslides are frequent during the rainy season. Therefore, the workers always encourage each other to overcome all difficulties to ensure safe train operation.
In response to the difficulties faced by workers at the Bac Thuy railway station, Vice Chairman Phan Van Anh shared words of encouragement and support to help them overcome challenges, ensure train safety, and successfully complete their assigned tasks.
Also on May 23rd, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation Hoang Nang Khang and Vice Chairman of Vietnam Railways Trade Union Nguyen Thanh Hoan visited, encouraged, and provided equipment to improve working and living conditions for workers at Bac Le and Kep stations on the railway line.
